An Old Record

Like an old forty five I thought you'd always be by my side With every spin of the turntable You said you were ready, willing and able But now our song is no longer on the countdown Our divorce is final and you moved out of town Rumors circulated about And I had my doubts But you confirmed my suspicion Perhaps it was woman's intuition So filled with frustration And without hesitation I asked you to leave Don't bother me please So like records you may no longer be around I can finally hear the music and it's such a lovely sound

There is something so very sad about this (besides the obvious) but also so freeing and I love the analogy of the 45 and the fact that those records are no longer around. Happy that you can once again hear the music. Nicely done.
