A Sense of Life

In this small square room of mental illusion,
I look at my reflection in a state of desolation.
I'm not what I am in this state of confusion,
I'm trampled on the ground by my sense of delusion.

I'm a black-hole in the corner of one of my classes,
absorbing all hatred and negativity that passes.
I see no light, nor a glimmer of hope,
what I haven't learnt is the courage to cope.

I need contraceptives for my mind.
Can't bear this cynicism and broken lies.
My thoughts are sown with verbal abuses,
raised by water like the weeds on turf-grasses.

Solitude was my belief in transient relief.
Its not a permanent cure, but just a relief.
When I snap out of it, I'm in the very same shoes,
I'm leached out of my strength, from out of the blue.

Escape from reality has never been an option.
Blacking out on drugs have never been a solution.
The past three years, I have witnessed huge losses,
instead of the results, now I discern the causes.

It might not just be mine, but your life too,
But what the wise men say, is indeed true -
Your deep sense of hurt, builds up your power,
because what doesn't kill you, makes you stronger...

The Lone Traveler

It is strange at times
When it's your future that haunts,
Like unhealed wounds
that unleash thoughts

Every drop of my past,
is etched in my mind.
It's not the forgotten, that plagues me the most,
it's my bleak future and the price it would cost.

There were certain things, that I did not do.
Crying over my past that I can never renew
It's nugatory to evaluate how much was spent,
but it's a genuine gaze through a bridge called the "present"

A distant land that I once left cold,
to an unknown land in search of gold.
I'm not sure about the journey ahead
I walk with hope on a flimsy thread
If I could ever go back and make some changes,
I guess I'd do that and hence you may not read this.

Shouldering the future, this lone traveler walks,
Even though sightless with stars in his eyes
Reminiscing over what lies ahead,
The once vibrant land, where memories bled.

Dear Addiction

Dear Addiction,
You've always been a companion.
You were the shadow that walked with me.
I kept moving on,
even though
I didn't know
that I was being... followed

I found myself trying to find my priorities,
from my conglomerated responsibilities
and now, not only do I regret,
A heart filled with contempt,
I contemplate in the valley of reality
Like a freely falling body
Under the lone influence of gravity.

The more I moved towards your edge
The more you showed me your depth
This time, I tried to back out,
but under that strong field, I was blacked out.

I saw what I couldn't see
and you showed me what I could never be
I thought it was 'hope'
but as an impostor of hope,
it was desperation in disguise
and 'depression' in my life

Dear Addiction,
We've been together for far too long,
I'm sorry to say this, It wont work anymore
Let our memories be set ablaze
As we take this moment to part ways.
I know you'll find your way,
'cos your next residence...is not far away

T'Error'Ism

Do I define terrorism
as a state of spiritual vandalism?
Or is it a group in minority
expressing their superiority
by murdering and sucking up humanity,
As a deity watches on an unrelated entity.

To our eyes it brings tears of sorrow.
We can only imagine the world of tomorrow.
Violence, bloodshed and prayerful murder,
Beaten, bruised and unimaginably tortured.

Civilians who live hopeless lives,
Happiness extinguished by faithful lies.
How can we hope to see the light?
When blinding darkness shines far more bright?

Can a single religion establish peace?
This very idea is a gnarled disease.
We worship the same god, in one form or another
and fight within our faiths, one form or another.
Catholics and Protestants, Jews and Gentiles,
Shaivas and Vaishnavas, Sunnis and Shias.

Small drops of water between fingers may slip,
but water when together, holds up a ship.
Follow ones own faith and preach your grace,
Religion maybe good, but not at the cost of human race.

The Altered Puzzle

Seven billion people in seven distant lands,
Scattered as products of desolate brands.
We are the puzzle pieces, distinct from each,
As leaves give beauty to an evergreen beech.

Different pieces of puzzle, put into a frame,
Individual piece have no identity or name.
Together we build in solitary perfection,
A humane beauty beyond perception.

The Parting Soul

What if I told you that your body,
is nothing more than a garland,
that you wear around like a garment
that screens the confining darkness
and liberates them, as black clouds
which pepper your mind with dark thoughts.

Yes, we call ourselves human beings,
who are made out of dust, for the time being.
The form that you are seeing,
is a reflection from a mirror in which you are dreaming.
Its not the dream that you see while you are sleeping,
but when you are awake, alive and breathing.

What if I told you that it takes only one millionth of a second,
to slip into the dark numbness of the moment.
The impending whisper of death,
that is imminent after every passing breath.

With that final sigh, you are marked by your deeds and devotion,
which adheres you to your loved ones' emotion,
and extricates you, from your daily commotion
As oblivion seeps through, while you are frigid and frozen.

A Response To Readers

I don't use vulgar thoughts,
I don't use vulgar quotes,
I don't use vulgar names
'cos I don't want that transient fame.

Some of the thoughts that stain, stay
Thoughts that stay, eventually fade away.
Some won't fade, they stay and linger
Neither in a quick sneeze nor the snap of a finger.

I'm not a person with two fake names,
Use the other name when put to blame.
If you come after me for repayment,
My silence does not make you the claimant.

I know poetry is considered to be a fine art
but I don't know to use big words to sound smart.
I'm not wise enough to pen down on wisdom,
But some of their delusions are not a part of my system.

I write in a language that I barely speak,
Scribbling for gaiety is all that I seek,
Sometimes its pointless when you try to make me worthless
'Cos that doesn't automatically make you worthwhile.

Oh yes, I do respect constructive criticisms,
Not the one that spreads hatred and cold cynicism.
But if useless fights are a part of your custom,
I don't mind as long as I have that 'block' button.

I don't care if you like what I write
'Cos all I do is write what I like.
You cant blame me for my distinctive choice,
'Cos its the conviction of my inner voice.
