Fading Away

It use to be perfect,
Just me and you.
Night after night,
We never lost sight,
For our friendship was so tight.
We use to be goals and that was great,
It was sad to watch all that disintegrate.

I’m so confused,
I give my all to you,
And you give me your back.
And it’s always me that gives you the slack.
I say I don’t need you,
That you are my past.
But you and I know that never does last.

You give me a day,
You build me up too.
But then it's like I don't exist,
Just out of the blue.

I pray it's a phase.
That one day you will text me and say,
It's me,
I’m back,
It's Mai.
But I know that's not how it works.
You have to want to change,
And you don't,
So I wait.

All you want to do is blaze.
I hope those are just teenage days.
But as the years go by,
You don't even answer when I say hi,
Cuz you're to busy with your fake friends,
Who will leave you in the end.

I don't know how much longer I can hold on to an idea.
That you will change,
That it will all be the same.
Cuz you can't go back in time,
And I wish we could rewind,
That I could help you from this hole you call a life.

It damages me to see you do this to yourself.
I wish I could protect you,
But I feel there is nothing else.
I hope I see you one day and you want me too.
I miss you friend,
What happened to in it till the end.
I wish you could see how sad it makes me when you leave me on read,
Cuz you're with some guy that just wants you in his bed.

But I will never give up.
All diamond start as coal,
They just take work.
And for the days you build me up,
That is my motive,
So I never give up.
