Lies

For the captive audience I am not
a folly for all to abide.
Someone to step upon like the doormat
  to relinquish one's foolish pride.
How much abuse can a person take before they snap in two?
How long do I need to take the blame and make excuses for you?

I apologize I was born a girl and not worthy of your love.
Unfortunately I don't make the decisions on what is sent from above.

You never took the patience to really see that I can accomplish something good.
But the only thing that really mattered was that I kept silent, did the dishes
and brought in all the wood.

When us kids made noise Mama would say, "Don't tell your Father, he might get upset!" Now go outside and play."

For it was always about you and how you felt and that is how it is still today. With Mama by your side picking you up off the floor. Keeping you safe and sound keeping all of life's troubles away.

The truth is the truth and life goes on and now we are both old and grey.
One son has passed and the other one has moved away.

I have remained nice and close and the tears still down my face.
Each one landing in a memory within my heart in their own special place.
