The Wanderer and the Wanderess

He was a wanderer searching for a good time.
She was a wanderess searching for love.
They both searched relentlessly and found one another,
And when they did, it was love at first sight.
Together, the two of them the conquer anything.
Although they just met, everything felt so right.

The wanderess had never felt something so right.
But she would come to find in time,
That you can never listen to anything
That was wanderer has to say about love.
One second he was there, and the next he was gone without a sight,
Leaving with the wanderess's heart, soon to steal yet another.

The wanderess feared that she'd never find another
Lover. However, she knew that his actions were very far from right,
Yet still she still wanted him to come back into her sight.
She so badly craved more of his time,
But the wanderer refused to return her love.
For his love, she would have done anything.

The wanderer left the wanderess unable to do anything.
She was so concerned with sulking about how she'd never find another
Like him. All she wanted was his love.
Then it hit her. She thought, "Who ever told him that he had the right
To break my heart and waste my time?"
Never again did she want him in her sight.

The wanderer saw the wanderess again, thinking "Wow! What a sight."
To get another chance he would have done anything,
But the wanderess refused to be hurt one more time.
He begged for yet another
Chance, but the wanderess knew it just wasn't right
To give her heart to someone who couldn't love.

The wanderer craved a different type of love.
The kind of love that vanished without a sight.
Never did he learn that it was not right
To throw away someone's heart as though it never meant anything.
When she was ready, the wanderess found another,
And the wanderer found a girl who would surely waste his time.

The wanderer was unsure of how to love anyone or anything,
So the wanderess shifted her sight to another
Person who would not be selfish with his love or his time.

Tree of Life

Staring out my window, watching the trees dance in the breeze,
I am reminded of the way she would dance through the kitchen
And the songs she’d sing as she’d tingle the spoon around in her cup of tea.
Although we were a family with little, we were abundant in affection.
Her warm hands, that held the breath of each soul that she’d met,
Could have melted the cold that now lies within the roots of me.
There is no way that I could arrange the letters in this alphabet
To delineate all that the winter has brought upon these trees
That were once adorned with the amber leaves of her energy,
And are now left naked as she was when she was brought into this world.
For in her loss, life could no longer unfurl.
As above, she’ll dance as though she never died.
So below, we’ll stand beside
The tree that planted all she left behind.

Love Yourself Or Nobody Will

He is not your hero.
He is not your savior.
He cannot fix you.
He cannot make you.
But he can bend you,
And even break you.
He can destroy you,
And try to shame you.
But will you let him?
Or will you reject
His controlling ways?
Will you stand up to
Him? Or will you run
And hide until he
Finds and captures you
Yet again. Grasping
Tightly onto you.
He won't let you go.
He loves to have all
Control. He has you.
Get away. Do it
While you still can, save
yourself. Do not drown
In his musty love.

Untitled

You say you will leave me.
Well then I must leave too.
There is no such thing as me without you.

So you go ahead,
I will surely follow.
I will love you until there is no tomorrow.

The Grey Girl On the Sidewalk

You are constantly mimicking and following me around
Imprinting my silhouette on the sidewalk
I know you well, though you don't make a sound
You're taller than me, but you don't weight a pound
At the end of the day, when the sun is no longer shining on the ground
The nighttime creeps in, teasing you with its sweet talk
And you always fall for it, and into the darkness you are drowned
Until the next sunny morning on which we will walk.

These Are Some of the Things You Do

You build me up, then you break me down.
You turn my frown to a smile and back to a frown.
These are some of the things you do.

You make me laugh, you make me cry.
It is not from the smoke, but your kiss that I get high.
These are some of the things you do.

You always tell those pretty lies,
And I believe you every time.
These are some of the things you do.

Out comes your ugly truth,
And I’ll fall for yet another poor excuse.
These are some of the things you do.

One day I’ll find the strength to go,
And you will be someone I no longer know.
These will be things that you will no longer do.
