A Summer Glance

He awoke from his sleepy slumber,
To the smell of fruits, water, and cut grass.
The kids ran, and the doors opened,
As the guards unlocked the gate to give pass.

The sun's rays covered every leaf and crack,
As they gave warmth to the town's melancholy mood,
And the families gave way to the tables and cars,
Which set up shop for fun and food.

The adults laughed, and the kids played,
Hide-and-Seek amongst the tall field.
The peopled yawned and the eyelids dropped,
As the tumbling kids began to yield.

The cars slowly rumbled away,
As the man returned to his drowsy trance,
And the golden sun set in the distance,
For what he saw was a summer glance.
