See You In Heaven

My generation
is next for the upper room
"worry" won't buy time.

Misunderstanding Genesis

Misunderstanding " Genesis"

When I get to thinking about man
about women
I think to the beginning of time
which is a question in itself
bring me back in time
to Adam and Eve
who lost the Paradise
due to a sneaky snake
and the bite of an apple
off of the tree of life.
don't mistake me for a non-believer
just analytical
you can accuse me of that
because if Adam and Eve,
the only two on the planet,
had Cain and Abel
"who" laid down with "who"
to create the multitudes?
That's all....
simple question.
one brother killed the other.
"free will"?
maybe I'll read it again
I must have missed "something"

Meditation

contest Own It

I hear the voices within my head.
the thoughts go back and forth
so much power goes to quieting
this internal fight within
eyes closed to fight all that is external
until I see red balls of light
...shhhh I whisper to my all too active brain
feel the sun only...the essence of warmth.
 Sun moon day night
eternal one over and over....
honest brain continued dialogue.
i am this.

Panic Buttons

Panic Buttons

guess what? there is no button
It comes out of the thin air
It doesn't matter "where"
I have studied the chemical reactions
that happen when the panic button is on
run
run away....."to where, where"?
and you're not thinking
you are panicking
breathe damn it
Breathe
and the more you say it to the overexcited brain
the air
is just gone.
what's wrong with you? Pull yourself together
shoot, did you try "yoga".
ugh.
Little do they know that I do
know!
the whole body systems reacts
to danger
"real" or not.
Say you live in a world where you never feel safe
Say your nights were about "Should I feel afraid tonight"
Say your life has always been this scenario.
Panic.
Don't wonder "why"?
Don't ask me "why"?
It is a lifetime story. Tell me?
Do you have the time?

Please Wake Me In the Spring

Please Wake Me In The Spring

Mind racing
wandering brain
need to clear out the clutter and cabin fever
Out there I see snow falling softly
like dust motes you see in summer light shadows
I've tried to make friends with winter
or at the least
acceptance
of the cold, the constant color of gray surrounding me
I'm not going to lie to myself
I love the warm sun, the green grass
flowers and bees, leaves on all the trees
butterflies
and warming my toes in the sand
listening to the waves hitting the shore
ah, sweet sounds to my ears
my eyes, my skin awakens to my friend
the sun. My soul is thrilled to its core
Therefore, I so wish I could throw
the blankets over my head
hibernate
then wake up not knowing what time it is
or remembering where I was
I think death must be like that
only you don't come back
or maybe you do
and suddenly you are a bird
with a new language
sweet songs
wings
and so many places to go
Yes!
I have felt that graceful flight
true freedom
in my winter dreams.

The Facts About Time

The Facts About Time

I told my friend
who is across the Atlantic
in Italy, and I tell her it's the land
of "my" people.....on my mother's side
I told her "I have a poem in me"
and I do
but it's 1 o'clock on a Saturday
the sun in shining so warm now
yet here I am. Indoors,
like someone super glued me to this chair
until I give birth to this poem
like it hurts ....this racing mind
and as usual I'm thinking about Time
backwards it's "Emit"
which means "to produce" or....
"come out with" !
backward or forwards
it's "Time to come out with"
questioning my own time
here
"Will my dreams come true"?
or is this IT?
nevertheless, I feel strongly....
that I will forever have a Poem in me.

Could Not Stay In Heaven

Could Not Stay In Heaven

So many years in this body
one day I shed my flesh and bones
that sheltered my soul
the "good bye's" were so hard
and I found myself
kneeling at his feet
feeling I did not belong there either
he then showed me bright pictures
of my wrongs and my rights
then asked me "Did you give Joy"?

I timidly glanced into his eyes
of melted gold and brown
and without words he told me
"you must go back, you have much work
to do. This time, remember to fill your heart".

There was no "time" involved
I wake up in a strange place, in a strange bed
I'm a man......I look under the blankets....
"whoa, I am a Man"!
I hear "honey, you're going to be late for work"
what? Work?
I remember......I'm a heart surgeon
I deal with life
I deal with death
I can't save all the people. I try.
I go home at night counting who I have saved
that day. I feel Joy.
I also have to tell loved ones,"I'm sorry, he's gone".
my heart is filled, my heart is emptied
I save lives, fix broken hearts.

Strange....I see flashes of a girl...familiar to me
when I see her, I hear a whisper
that sounds like, "fill my heart"
"fix my heart"
"who is she"?

Where They Will Find Me

contest

Where They Will Find Me

I left all worldly possessions behind me
besides a few precious journals with a few blank pages
my medications and two pens thrown in my purse
I took a bus right on out of here where the grass was tall
found an abandoned victorian style house and stayed
It took the whole day to wander through the nooks and crannies
stairs and cobwebs. A full library of old, beautiful and dusty books
I grabbed an old book and a handful of pills
the stained glass window shining on me and the blue brocade couch
made a kaleidoscope of my waxy, white face and fingers
clutching the leatherbound book with it's gold trim pages
as if I'd never let go.

Poet Voices

Poet Voices

I asked him to read my poem
"aloud"
to hear my words from somewhere
other than in my own head
I always say...."No........not like that!"
to "say it like you mean it"
"put some motion in your voice"
and he read on...
monotonously
making me irritated....
I have to say..."ok, pause right there"
"there is a pause"!
frustration to my words
I wrote with feeling
that do not come out someone else's mouth
and thinking.....
I'm writing with color and emotion
hills and valleys
tears and laughter
and it is not in his voice
I am tempted to ball it up and throw it out
Damn.
but I read it again.........place it in my journal
draw grass and flowers around my words
stars and suns........clouds and rain.
It is my world in there.
And I'll tell it like it is.

Unforgiven

Unforgiven

All that I asked of my brother
to please call dad
even though dad couldn't talk back
all those years my dad held onto
and no call
from his son.
When dad needed the decision made
feeding tube or not?
for he could no longer swallow
life or death?
choose
Food was Dad's joy
once again to call my brother
to help me make that decision
no call back.
feeding tube inserted
so when dad's ashes came
nearly 3 weeks later
no knock on the door. nothing
on a rainy day I saw the cardboard box
on the ground
and something came out of me
a primeval moan
for my dad.
and he sits on my dresser now
with someone who loves him.
forgive?
I don't know how.
