Please Wake Me In the Spring
Please Wake Me In The Spring
Mind racing
wandering brain
need to clear out the clutter and cabin fever
Out there I see snow falling softly
like dust motes you see in summer light shadows
I've tried to make friends with winter
or at the least
acceptance
of the cold, the constant color of gray surrounding me
I'm not going to lie to myself
I love the warm sun, the green grass
flowers and bees, leaves on all the trees
butterflies
and warming my toes in the sand
listening to the waves hitting the shore
ah, sweet sounds to my ears
my eyes, my skin awakens to my friend
the sun. My soul is thrilled to its core
Therefore, I so wish I could throw
the blankets over my head
hibernate
then wake up not knowing what time it is
or remembering where I was
I think death must be like that
only you don't come back
or maybe you do
and suddenly you are a bird
with a new language
sweet songs
wings
and so many places to go
Yes!
I have felt that graceful flight
true freedom
in my winter dreams.
