Robert Weber Poem
I revisited the old place,
I had to do it
Now, just an empty space
But I had to do it
They called me crazy, being prepared
But I had to do it
It all ended, all were despaired
We hid here, we had to do it
We had survived it
I had to do it
I had to survive it
I had to do it
We were the only two left
I had to do it
Resources dwindled, not much left
I had to do it
She was weak, I was strong
I had to do it
It was logical, it was not wrong
I had to do it
She was weak, she way dying
I had to do it
I sought options, god I was trying
I had to do it
She was beautiful, so full of life
But not before I had to do it
I took the knife
I had to do it
Even now I hear her voice, pleading
I had to do it
Then it was quite, but she was bleeding
Bleeding to death, but I had to do it
I had to leave; I felt it in my bones
I had to do it
All that was left, was her bones
I had to do it
I had to see her, no matter the pain
I had to do it
Taking her pain, it was my gain
I had to do it
We were hungry, I knew it was wrong
I had to do it
She was weak, I was strong
I had to do it
I had to be quick, to get it done
I had to do it
Then it was over, she was done
I had to do it
Why did I do it?
I had to do it
I had to do it
I had to do it
