Of Chastised Lands and Serpent Kings

I dreamed a dream of saddened things-                                                                                                                                                 
Of chastised lands
and serpent kings-
The legend of the ancient days
In constant turmoil 
it decays


The rotting flesh of human thought
Which in its span
Had overwrought
Their dreams of youth, and
And truth,
And bliss-
The cancer of 
their conscious cyst


Is quietly raping our virgin souls
Making monsters to men 
Or so it goes-
The tell-tale heart of evil reigns
In the veins of those
So eager to gain


The wisdom of a grain of sand
Without the knowledge
It holds in its hand-
Blinded by their need to see
they let the serpent
               be reality

By chastising their will to dream
Beyond the death 
their breathing brings-
The sadness of their serpent king
Is mirrored
In our everything
