The Friendly Giant

Like a map, as a highway,
Understand the intricate canyons,
Deep, divergent, continuing,
Like a maze of no end,
An ascension of growth,
Greyish-brown, flecked yellow,
Sparkled greenish-blue,
Hard and rough, cracked and beautiful,
The bark of this tree,
Ages and years its heritage,
I cannot comprehend why it lives,
Here silently, solemnly,
But with it, I celebrate,
Cunning, perseverance, strength,
In the shade of it's greening canopy.

Self: An Understanding

To be self less,
You can either be without self,
Or consider yourself less,
To be selfish,
You can either be sort of you,
Or somewhat someone else.
There is a broad picture,
Of the roads we must take,
A vivacious wandering,
An endless steppe Heaven,
From which we may feel our descent,
But want our ascension.
Selflessness, selfishness,
Conquer or become?
Acquire or divulge?
You can only find true peace,
When you walk in the daylight,
As you do in the night time.
