The Thing In the Dark

I lay alone in my bed,
Clutching my stuffed bear Ted,
The frightening darkness all around,
I do not make a sound,
I try to sit up and calm my self,
But something stairs at me from atop my bedroom shelf,
A pair of amber eyes blazing in the dark,
Then I jump because I hear a dog bark,
The eyes flash and I hear a thump on the floor,
The sound is very hard to ignore,
There is a thump on the bed,
I clutch even tighter my stuffed bear Ted,
I hear a purr,
I feel some fur,
And then I'm sure whats on my bed,
My stuffed bear Ted falls to the floor,
And I hold and hug the cat I adore.

The Potter and the Painter

Clay turns round and round,
Upon a spinning table,
A Potter shapes the pile with his hands,
The masterpiece is finally taking shape,
His skin grey,
Glistening wetly in the light,
He feels so hollow inside,
The room spins around him,
Slowly he stops,
In front of him sits a chair,
His soul as dry as his now stone-like skin,
A woman walks in,
Taking him off the table,
Carrying him to her station,
She sits facing him with brush in hand,
She hums to herself as the she paints,
The colors of her soul pouring onto him,
Man and woman bonded,
Together forever,
Their love as beautiful as their creation.

The Stormy Night

The wind blows through the trees,
Casting shadows on the house,
The only sound to be heard,
Is the scratching of a mouse,
A ghostly moan comes from the walls,
The cool air smells of mothballs,

A scream erupts from a child's chest,
Her mother walks in and presses her head to breast,
Hush now my child she says as she strokes her hair,
Then the thunder roars like a bear,

The little girl falls fast asleep,
Her mother lays her down there is not a peep,
Her mother leaves and closes the door,
And the little girl dreams once more.

The Thief

Here I am at the building,
I've waited for so long,
I want to do this the right way,
And make sure nothing goes wrong,

I waited for the darkness,
Waited for nights embrace,
For when my work is done,
No gem will be left in this place,

I sneak inside the store,
I wait for a sound,
There is no one in here,
So I look around,

The cases are so full,
I can't believe my eyes,
So many beautiful gems,
What a big surprise,

I open the first case,
And reach for a ring,
All is going to plan,
It makes me want to sing,

Then I stop what I'm doing,
I stop and think,
This is not right,
Water drips from a sink,

This is not me,
This is not who I am,
I put back the ring,
And close the case, BAM!!!,

I go back outside,
I walk a few feet,
If I do this,
My fate I will meet,

I Just keep walking,
The store pushed from my mind,
My brother always told me,
That I was to kind,

But kindness is a good thing,
My brother I tell you this,
I refuse to be a Thief,
The person no one will miss.

Them

I can hear them coming,
Just down the hall,
Just down the corridor,
I see their shadows on the wall.

Closer, closer, closer they come,
What do I do!
If they catch me,
They'll have a new thing to chew.

Even closer they shamble,
Withered hands outstretched,
Their mouths open...moaning,
Their decaying bodies wretched.

There is no way out of this school,
My fate I'll meet very soon,
This school...is my crypt,
And this hallway...is my tomb.

Wakizashi

I am a Wakizashi,
Shining in the moonlight,
Piercing skin,
Slicing through flesh
Killing my owner to preserve their honor.
