Letter To B

As we kissed in our leafy surround, I trembled with fear that we might be found. But all that melted in the warmth of your lips, As we extended our late summer trips. I always felt we'd hit it too young, We would never survive this teenage fun. You never quite grasped how deep I was in, Those deep brown eyes and your easy grin. The world was new, and so were we, Unsure then, as now, what we’d be. We grew. We broke. We drifted wide. Now sea and distance you from me hide. We don't speak now and I am scarred, Bruised, broken, hurt, jarred. I was in love with the idea of you, Your soul, energy, memory. Is it true? Without warning these feelings swell, From long ago where I thought they fell. If I were A, you were B. So long for now. From little old me.
