Man's Best Friend

Diligent, playful, and wise,
Of furry paws and soft loving eyes,
God’s amazing gift to mankind.

Escape and Dream

When the day has dwindled down, and you’re all snug in your bed
Do dreams of incredible stories take place in your head?
It’s easy to imagine the things that you can do,
When you and your imagination are the only living two.

You could be a straight A student if you’re one who always fails,
You can be an honest child if you always tell tall tales.
You could be a courageous knight if you’re much to shy to speak,
You can be a big strong hero if you look slender and meek.

Let your thoughts drift and wander, let your worries melt away
Your imagination and your dreams will get you through the day.
The world without a dream would be so cold and blue,
Every idea unimagined would be anything but new.

What an amazing gift this is, a personal escape
From the boring old reality that is always taking place.
So dream what you must dream, and put your thoughts on a page
Never stop imagining, it’s meant for any age.

Wishful Thinking

It seems as though I’m drowning,
When I’m surrounded by hard ground.
The whispers of innocent people
Are screaming all around.

Where is the peace so longed for?
Has it wasted all away?
“Please let the violence end,
And let us live as one” I pray.

They say nothing is impossible,
But it’s getting harder to believe.
This image of a perfect world
Is beginning to deceive.

Life is too short to worry,
To be unhappy or to pout,
And someday, maybe someday,
We can force all this evil out.
