Where Thoughts May Carry You

The night sky enters the scene
Shatters my dream, and the rainbow the day made
Guess you can never escape, the things that are meant to haunt you

I stare with sleepy eyes outside to the stars
Once my guiding light, once my run away
Now all I do is stay, and stare
Wish, and Pray

The sun will come up again tomorrow
Maybe shine a little brighter for me
Knows I’m sleeping in, knows my secrets
God is watching everything I do

I feel sometimes He is sarcastic with His matches
Like a child, throwing tantrums
When it rains, it pours

And no one knows

I’ll tell you bits and pieces of what life is like here
But I keep it all so near and dear, for fear
That it will haunt me more if I whisper the truth out loud

Do you think you know me now?

The skies invade my days with canvassed rays
That my friend paints in pretty pictures of a world
She wishes still held the innocence she portrays

I’d wait all day at the beach, on my knees
If that meant finding the meaning to this life
To my compromise for floundering my way through

Want to know the difference between me and you?
Guess what. I do too.
