Where Are You

To
the
Church..To
the
Mosque
To
the
Temple!
From
the
dawn
Of
our
Republic
We
have
honoured
you
And
exalted
you
You
have
marked
the
way
And
we
have
followed
You
have
lit
our
steps
From
the
old
times
But
today
we
ask
Where
is
your
light
We
have
searched
in
your
roofs
And
we
see
it
not
We
have
searched
in
the
skies
And
we
see
it
not
We
have
scanned
the
deep
And
blackness
is
all
we
see
Where
are
your
paths
For
thorns
have
grown
in
their
stead
Where
is
your
voice
For
we
have
waited
And
we
hear
it
not
We
ask
not
without
cause
For
those
that
have
scarred
The
hearts
of
our
youth
With
counsel
so
vile
Are
hovering
in
your
compound
Those
that
have
laughed
At
the
groans
of
our
infants
Held
in
their
pawing
hands
Are
wearing
your
gowns
Those
that
we
gave
custody
Of
our
baby
devolution
Born
of
the
new
law
Are
reaching
for
our
treasures
Their
eyes
on
our
sweat
Yet
the
baby
we
got
not
alone
Timothy
Njoya
was
with
us
Henry
Okullu
was
with
us
Alexander
Muge
gave
his
life
For
the
baby
That
they
now
line
up
One
by
one
to
defile
Why
have
you
abandoned
us
And
orphaned
the
baby
we
got
Will
you
not
stand
with
us
As
in
the
days
of
struggle
When
you
went
with
us
To
the
streets
of
Nairobi
And
to
the
hotels
To
help
us
reclaim
Our
portion
in
the
land
That
our
fathers
left?
Is
it
you
have
forgotten
Your
treasured
roles
Or
that
you
are
weary?
We
long
for
the
warmth
That
your
company
begot
Many
things
we
can
forfeit
Many
more
we
can
mock
But
your
esteemed
company
not

Go Tell the Terrorist

You are not gallant
as they say
You are not fierce
as your heart boasts
You are but a coward
The corward of this age
For you have but no blood
Coursing in your veins

Neither are you a gliding
serpent
Nor a blazing dragon
For those have hearts in
their chests

You exalt yourself
as of the heavens
And push a crown
onto your brainless head

Just because you have
sprayed your bullets
On worshippers
Who know not your cause
And splashed their brains
Onto the holy ceiling
above

Just because you have
covered
The pure white walls
With a surge of red rain
Of the innocents' blood

Just because you have
raided
The skulls of our innocents
And placed your bullets
there
You flaunt your red
crowns
Gorged with blood
To the world to see?

Tell me not your case
Go face those you accuse
For is it this child you
accuse?
Before us you stand
vanquished
Bombs or no bombs
We remain uncowed
Death or no death
We remain unbowed
For even death cannot
stand us
For death rules only in the
grave
And soon will be deposed

What a fool you are
 In all the world
To feast on lies
Your small brain
That your hope
Is in those bags
Of death that you flaunt
You can hurl them all you
want
Those carriers of your
death
But we never will bow
down
We never will go down
To you and the death you
bring
Even if you push on your
head
That unholy crown of
blood

Who Will Secure Our Nights

My
friends
lay
on
the
cold
concrete
floor,
snoring,
Mocking
their
roles
as
watchers
of
the
night

The
cold
wind
whispered
in
my
ear,
as
the
night
skies
above
reached
for
my
sleepy
eyes

I
waited
and
waited,
my
patience
on
the
edge
For
the
dragging
sun
To
dissolve
the
veil
of
darkness
Hanging
about
my
falling
eyes

Unknown
to
me
Beneath
the
hushed
whispers
of
the
wind
Lurked
black
tongues
of
death
Peering
and
longing
With
a
savage
lust

From
the
depths
of
night
The
agents
of
death
sprang
Bringing
death
in
their
dirty
hands
I
tried
to
say
'hey'
But
a
dagger
blow
to
my
head
Overtook
my
words
in
a
rage
of
madness
I
rolled
and
rolled ,
and
rolled
again
Pangs
of
pain
seizing
my
whole
being
As
I
showed
the
world
my
death

From
my
state
I
listened
in
awe
To
the
sounds
of
death
roaring
with
none
to
save
My
sleeping
friends
knew
not
luck
Beside
me
they
lay,
Motionless,
Their
visions
of
tomorrow
crushed
Their
dreams
lost
and
trashed
Their
voices
and
hopes
forever
stilled

When
I
heard
the
boots
of
death
Slowly
melt
away
I
knew
my
soul
had
lived
to
tell
This
is
all
I
had
to
say
Let
us
not
sit
in
our
huts
Tricked
by
the
stillness
of
night
To
mock
our
role
As
watchers
of
our
nights

A Tear For Mother Nature

Yesterday,
A
green
army
of
trees
stood
here
Marching
forward
in
grandeur
Their
green
leaves
shone
with
brilliance
In
the
glowing
sun
Generous
with
light
Their
roots
held
defiantly
to
the
content
soils
beneath

Yesterday,
A
gallant
stream
rolled
downhill
Like
one
striving
In
a
race
of
beauty
Its
daring
waters
Whipping
the
rocks
beneath

Today,
Dead
rocks
quake
from
the
heat
of
the
sun
Where
trees
of
yesterday
Had
spread
their
splendid
feet
Pools
of
dust
now
reign
Where
trees
had
cast
cool
shadows
of
life
A
yawning
emptiness
now
spreads
In
the
stead
of
green
leaves
That
shone
with
life

The
path
of
that
daring
stream
Is
but
a
gaping
wilderness
Of
tired,
cracking
rocks
Thirsting
for
water
But
none
to
quench
The
fish
that
filled
the
stream
Are
but
memories
of
a
dying
age
Am
a
hurting
and
dying
mother
Call
me
Mother
Nature
If
for
me
you
will
shed
a
tear

If the World Was Mine

If
the
world
was
mine
The
thick
forests
With
all
their
pine
The
lush
grasslands
With
all
their
glow
The
tall
ranges
With
all
the
snow
The
glorious
desert
With
all
their
dunes

If
the
world
was
mine
The
blue
sky
With
all
its
mystery
The
moving
clouds
The
brilliant
sun
With
all
the
rays

If
the
world
was
mine
The
countless
stars
With
all
their
might
The
wonders
of
the
wild
The
forests,
All
the
oceans
and
the
deep

If
the
world
was
mine
I
would
take
All
of
it
for
you
Stuff
all
into
a
basket
Hold
it
high
In
my
small
hands
And
give
all
to
you

My Heart You Own

Deep
inside
Your
eyes
I
looked
Saw
my
world,
Got
my
heart
hooked
I
looked
at
your
face
And
saw
it
glow
Till
the
stars
above
Had
nothing
to
show

From
that
moment
I
took
your
hand
It
felt
so
good
I
could
hold
it
And
hold
it
For
all
time
Till
at
time's
end
I
return
to
the
sand

When
I
walked
Into
your
world
Into
the
embrace
Of
your
heart
I
wanted
to
spend
My
whole
life
there

I
have
seen
you
step
Into
the
wicked
night
My
hope
is
you
will
Hold
not
another
knight
It's
difficult
this
For
me
to
say
That
I
can't
stand
As
my
heart
you
slay

The
darkness
there
Is
not
slight
But
I
pray
the
moon
Will
dare
to
shine
That
the
starry
glory
Will
be
smooth
and
fine

But
if
hold
the
knight
You
say
you
may
Just
do
not
take
His
cup
of
wine
Love
can
wrestle
With
death
they
say
And
mine
will
slay
The
pain
I
pray

Darkness
has
filled
My
heart
it's
true
Yet
of
tomorrow
I
have
not
a
clue
But
there's
an
end
To
every
journey
And
a
trophy
For
every
tourney

For
it's
the
nature
Of
time
to
roll
And
the
delight
Of
hearts
to
prowl
If
I
be
away
That
day
you
return
Just
do
not
Stand
to
mourn
And
if
near
I
be
When
you
return
Take
my
heart
back
For
my
heart
you
own
