Where Are You
To
the
Church..To
the
Mosque
To
the
Temple!
From
the
dawn
Of
our
Republic
We
have
honoured
you
And
exalted
you
You
have
marked
the
way
And
we
have
followed
You
have
lit
our
steps
From
the
old
times
But
today
we
ask
Where
is
your
light
We
have
searched
in
your
roofs
And
we
see
it
not
We
have
searched
in
the
skies
And
we
see
it
not
We
have
scanned
the
deep
And
blackness
is
all
we
see
Where
are
your
paths
For
thorns
have
grown
in
their
stead
Where
is
your
voice
For
we
have
waited
And
we
hear
it
not
We
ask
not
without
cause
For
those
that
have
scarred
The
hearts
of
our
youth
With
counsel
so
vile
Are
hovering
in
your
compound
Those
that
have
laughed
At
the
groans
of
our
infants
Held
in
their
pawing
hands
Are
wearing
your
gowns
Those
that
we
gave
custody
Of
our
baby
devolution
Born
of
the
new
law
Are
reaching
for
our
treasures
Their
eyes
on
our
sweat
Yet
the
baby
we
got
not
alone
Timothy
Njoya
was
with
us
Henry
Okullu
was
with
us
Alexander
Muge
gave
his
life
For
the
baby
That
they
now
line
up
One
by
one
to
defile
Why
have
you
abandoned
us
And
orphaned
the
baby
we
got
Will
you
not
stand
with
us
As
in
the
days
of
struggle
When
you
went
with
us
To
the
streets
of
Nairobi
And
to
the
hotels
To
help
us
reclaim
Our
portion
in
the
land
That
our
fathers
left?
Is
it
you
have
forgotten
Your
treasured
roles
Or
that
you
are
weary?
We
long
for
the
warmth
That
your
company
begot
Many
things
we
can
forfeit
Many
more
we
can
mock
But
your
esteemed
company
not
