Dark Nostalgia.

A town unlocks their Baptist cage.
They shout and scream unholy rage.
The scorching sun sears all beneath,
Forsaken whips snap from their teeth.
Their eyes are slits that sting of salt.
Born black; born here; it's all his fault.
And what they learned at mothers' knee,
keeps cadence, creaking, from a tree.

Another Book of Genesis

Sighed Adam to Eve:
“Because you were deceived,
Like a fool, I believed.
Sadly, all our conceived
Will be sorely bereaved.”

Well, that should be it, right?
No, boys and girls, not quite!

So you can hear what they were all up to,
We now bring this long lost tape to you:

Adam:
“You really are a stupid cow!”
“Just look at us! Where are we now?”

Eve:
“Shut up! You filthy, pawing pig!
Before I kick you in the fig!”

Angel of the Lord:
“You’ll have to leave, take this outside.”
“Your presence here, we can’t abide.”

And of course, the slinky one:

“Blah, Blah, Blah, Blah, Blah, Blah!”

“She’s such a fool and so is he.
If I had hands, I’d clap with glee.
If the rest of them are all like that,
I’ll soon have my routine down pat!
But I’d better scoot before they crush
My poor wee head to compost mush.
I’ll set up shop, lead them all astray
And collect them all for Judgment Day!”

“Hah, Hah, Hah, Hah, Hah, Hah!”

For now, that’s all that we can send.
Thank you for your time, my friends.
So, remember, girls, no fruit to lend,
And boys, say “NO!” or it is THE END.

A Prayer To Achieve.

Lord, teach me to achieve.
Teach me to love what I do.
Teach me to do what I love.
Teach me to truly achieve,
but by your standards,
not the worlds',
so that I might achieve
that which is worthwhile
and lasting,
not fleeting
nor empty.
And,
when I am finally called
to give an accounting
of what I have achieved,
may what I have achieved
speak well of me,
so that I might achieve
that which is truly lasting-
eternal life.
AMEN.

This is dedicated to the following people who have
treated me with kindness and respect:

From There To Here.

As you ponder each turn that has landed you here,
taut tempo will quicken and frail futures loom near.
Take one somber moment, step away from the din:
The voyage, the detours, the past and what's been.

You look back behind you to retrace every mile.
It bring tears of regret and the trace of a smile.
Hang on first, then let go, due to whimsy or age.
What you keep in the end is the test of a sage.

Fools still ignore the supreme ticks of the clock,
in each change in fashion, embraced by the flock.
Walk on and ignore them, don't bother to chide,
these pathetic lemmings swept away by the tide.

Peer off in the distance as you fight off the chill.
You must climb still further to the top of the hill.
Play the tailor to time, cut and trim, make it fit.
Find the time in your life. Take time to enjoy it.

Playboy Model.

Sweet sensual skin
wears scruples thin
until you see your own true sin.

B Horror On a Beach Day.

Soon the curious swelled to a mob.
as they gathered to gape at the glob.
Someone prods with a stick.
as another screams: " Quick!"
"We must run for our lives! It's the Blob!"

A Special Thank You.

Thank You, God.
Thank You for everything
that I know that I wanted and You withheld.
Thank You for everything
that I thought that I did not need and You provided.

out of ten who returns to give thanks to Your Son.
Thank you for what you have granted.
Thank You for what you held back.
Thank you. Always. Amen.
