Daddy's Little Girl

Daddys buzzed,
He can't think straight.
One word she speaks wrong,
It's a slap in the face.

To bad when he's drunk,
That's the best man he is,
She says,"Daddy stop drinking,
I want you to live."

Quit screaming and yelling,
She can't take it anymore.
He yells,"Get out of my house then!"
"Theres the front door."

She stands up out of the corner,
Trembling with each step she takes.
The closer she gets to the door,
The more Daddy starts to shake.

He says I'm sorry sweetheart,
Please don't let them know,
Stay with me my dear,
Babydoll please don't go.

"I love you Daddy," slips out of her mouth,
Those words she starts to despise.
Daddy grabbed her by the wrists,
And pulled her to his side.

But that doesn't mean I want to say,
She tries to say aloud.
Then Daddy pulls out a bat,
And says now don't you be loud.
He swings the bat,
He misses her
She scrambles to get away.
Daddy yells out orders,
To avoid pain all she can say is ok.

She goes to her room and lays on her bed,
She doesn't hear from him for hours.
She wakes up to him opening her door,
He says,"Go take a shower."

She walks out of the bathroom,
Still wet and in a towel.
Daddy pulls her close and says,
"Today girl your gonna smile."

They get in his truck,
They drive for miles and say nothing at all.
All that time that they've wasted,
And they end up at some mall.

They walk around awhile,
No one seems to notice,
All the cuts and bruises,
That lay on this poor child.

They look so good together,
The perfect looking dad,
And his daughter with the curls.
They think everythings fine.
Because through those stranger's eyes,
She's Daddy's little girl.

Maybe Only a Nephew

Basketball and swimming, building blocks we'd stack
Your mom took you away,
Are you ever coming back?
The time we spent together,
Every second of each day,
Please come back Austin,
I need you right away.

A big part of my life,
Is what you were to me,
Maybe only a nephew,
But like a missing son I need.

The house it seems so empty,
Even with your pictures all around.
I look at them and see you,
But I do not hear the sound.
The sound of you laughing,
Playing and having fun,
Even when it's not with me,
I'll still love you like a son.

So, Austin when you come back,
We'll play basketball, swim, and more.
Your presence will mend my heart,
That your inferior mother tore.

A Simple Denouement

Whoevers flesh you caress tonight,
I hope it leaves you cold.
Go ahead, let her burn,
Your quickend breaths chill my soul.

I can feel her nails in my back,
Your betrayal I can taste.
My heart is in my throat,
The blood dripping shows my hate.

I try to hold back my tears,
The pain is just to strong.
Tomorrow when you wake up next to her,
Her spirit will be singing you a dejected Good-Bye song.

Holding Our Wings Hostage

Holding Our Wings Hostage
-------------------------------------------

You've let me go, but haven't set me free.
Swaying with each dove, each one with broken wings.
For everyone who's held down by these chains,
The tempo slows, now we're at one, let them struggle in all the world's pain.
Their anger, so fierce, burning each of us slowly.
No more moments keeping it inside, now it's our turn, we'll let out such suttle
cries.
We'll make wishes, and we'll have our dreams.
Today we've been let go,
but when will you set us free?
