I Hate You

I hate you because you stole my heart,
but I don’t want it returned;
The fact that it is safe with you,
is something I have learned.

I hate the way you smile at me,
It stops all time and space;
When you are near, I feel at ease,
and grounded in my place.

I hate how you can make time fly,
and yet, make each moment last;
I feel as though you are my world,
I hate the spell you’ve cast.

I hate the times you’ve shown you care,
I always question why;
I know, that I can count on you,
to catch the tears I cry.

I hate the way you look at me,
what you see I do not know;
I’m scared you’ll find out how I feel,
I hope it doesn’t show.

I hate the way you touch my hand,
because eventually, you let go;
I hate the way you hug me tight,
my feelings over-flow.

I hate the way you talk to me,
Your voice is firm, but kind;
The way you think, is different,
I appreciate, your mind.

I hate you because of who you are to me,
You cannot be replaced;
I hate the way you make me feel,
but my emotions, must be faced.

I love, the warmth your presence brings,
and how you’re always true;
For the soul that you are,
until I die, I will love you.

Dear Father of the Nation

You lead this nation to hold hands;
You inspired peace, even on foreign sands.

You are the world’s most respected man;
You’ve encouraged dreams, and the words: “I can”.

Now that you walk on Heaven’s shores;
And live in a home with God’s hand-made doors;
We pray, that we can make you look down and smile;
As we pass on your legacy, through the generation aisle.

Dear Nelson Mandela, may peace now be with you;
And thanks for your love;
From: A global family, missing You.

I'M a Rose

I hate the way romance is lost
on the societies of today;
The ripple effect is a greater cost,
for love becomes a mere game to play.

No more flowers and dates,
just ice-cream and kisses;
No more endless debates,
just morning texts and late wishes.

The concept of courtship is re-defined,
and friendship boundaries blur;
To loyalty, common eyes are blind,
and yet hearts still claim intentions are pure.

What happened to the gentlemen who held the doors?
And the ladies that blushed at a glance?
From where comes the existence of playboys and whores?
People gambling with feelings and chance?

The world is so de-sensitised,
for this is now the norm;
Anything deeper becomes emphasised,
and stands out, for it doesn’t conform.

Old-fashioned is the given word,
for those who choose to wait;
Outrages stories become heard,
one-night stands to end a date.

Well, I won’t fall for cheap pick-up lines,
give me love letters to keep over time;
And I’m more drawn to the Shakespeare’s and Einstein’s,
than I am to the food-stains and grime.

I would find more joy in silence and holding hands,
than in empty kisses and meaningless words;
And better than a dinner worth hundreds of rands,
is a picnic outside, with the birds.

I’d rather gaze upon the stars at night,
and know my love is true;
Than dance in clubs till morning light,
and fear regret for what I might do.

A warning to those who look my way,
my heart will not be torn;
and if you’re looking for daisies, then walk away;
I’m a rose, do not bring out my thorn.

Happy Father's Day 2015

For our Dad, Mansoer; with love...

Happy Father’s Day 2015

May your Father’s Day be blessed,
You are, the world’s greatest Dad;
Thanx for always being there,
throughout the good times and the bad.

For leading our family,
and always showing that you care;
know that we’ll always love you,
a soul like you is rare.

You’re our stability and strength,
the hands that will protect;
you’re a father to look up to
with the greatest of respect.

For all the memories of times gone by,
the joy that’s caused by you;
we thank you for the love within this family
that you grew.

Within Our Nation

Everchanging is this universe, with many twists and different ways;
Sometimes we get up with a burst of energy, sometimes we leave things for better days.

However, we must accept, that everyday is new;
We should make the most of it, for our days on this planet are too few.

A car crash; a fire; become deaf or blind;
Anything could happen, ask yourself, what is left behind.

Have we laid a secure platform for the developing youth?;
Have we lived a life or lies, or have we always told the truth?;

Have we assisted in educating, to give everyone an even chance;
Are all young children happy? Do they still play, and sing, and dance?;

Do we remember our roots? Legends; Ancestors; and Religion?;
Do we consider everything when we make a new decision?

Why are we so focused on old battles that were faught;
Why do we keep forgetting all the new things that are taught?

Children are the leaders of tomorrow, but parents are the leaders of today;
A nation is a family;
Let only true leaders show the way.

Within each young soul lies the desperate need for peace;
No one is born evil, so why can’t the crime rate decrease?:

Let’s all set the example to make the future bright;
It starts with feeding the birds; and praying every night.

A change can only start from within;
That’s the only way that good can win.

Lead through example and show love and care;
Uplift the less fortunate, learn to give and share.

The greatest joy is found in knowing you made a change.
All it takes is a simple, thinking re-arrange.

Let’s use unity to fight the challenges of today.
We can make a difference, if we voice what we have to say.

Let’s use our skills constructively to save our environment; our Earth;
This is the only known planet that maintains both Death and Birth.

Try and prevent others from making simple, yet harmful mistakes;
Pick up that paper on the side of the road, two seconds is all that it takes.

In life there are those who follow, and those; who lead;
There can be a massive ripple effect; from just one small good deed.

We have the power to give knowledge, pass on wisdom and help others to understand;
Unity is the key to peace throughout the land.

Masks of Everyday

We know this world is quite corrupt,
but to exactly what extent?
Can you believe religion lies?
Or that the preachers don’t repent?

We’re brainwashing our youth,
yet we expect that they will lead;
Minds too constricted to explore,
can’t walk the paths that will succeed.

Society is condemned, by its humanistic flaw;
The need to either follow, or to re-create the law.

If you don’t have the wealth to lead,
are you nothing more than dust?
And if your morals aren’t astray,
will co-leaders take away their trust?

We plunge into the crowd,
and wear the masks of everyday;
Silently we build escapes,
and dream of lands away.

Love Spell

-I dedicate the following poem to my dear parents, whose love for each other has had its’ ups and downs, yet still lives on, and inspires. Have a happy valentines day Mom and Dad, and thanx for all of your love. xxxFA:)

Love Spell- by Faaiqah Abader.

Looking back upon the years,
and times I’ve seen with you;
The times you’ve held me in your arms,
the times you’ve shown your love is true;

I’ve realised, looking back,
that our lives are epic plays;
On each journey that my soul embarks,
your face has graced my days.

Tomorrow I might die,
or tomorrow I might live;
But in the eternity to follow,
my love to you I’ll always give.

By a Godly hand, our paths have crossed,
and creatively our fates were penned;
Somehow we were linked together,
by a bond we can’t quite comprehend.

Years from now, when our Earth is dust;
and we fall in space, as beings left to dwell;
The beats of our hearts shall float side-by-side in peace;
for nothing can break, a love spell.

Happy New Year 2014

Years seem to fly by,
And it’s not all that bad;
Time is never really moving,
Life’s the dream we never had.

We stand to face tomorrow,
Not knowing what’s to come;
Yet we’ve made it to the present,
Regardless of where we’re from.

What is a year exactly?
A three-digit number of days?
Is it not simply the circle,
within which Mother Earth plays?

It’s merely a unit of measurement,
Like a meter or a pound;
It measures how long it takes the Milky Way,
to move the Earth around.

So what’s the cause for celebration?
A circle that’s complete?
It’s like dancing to a song,
-that’s always on repeat!

Yet to us it means much more,
A beginning, fresh and new;
Another chance to change our fate,
And do what we’d never do.

Let your year have no regrets,
Say “I love you” everyday;
Stand beside the Truth,
And make the time to pray.

Acknowledge times of sadness,
And acknowledge your laughter and smiles;
Acknowledge life’s currents and changes,
And let your memories run on for miles.

A year is so much more than time,
And even more than another chance;
It’s a moment to regain your balance,
And re-affirm, your stance.

Leave Behind Your Best

Saddened hearts, Our eyes cast low,
for the sorrows of this land;
Are we really, doing all we can,
to lend our helping hand?

We come from backgrounds far and near,
Histories vast and yet the same;
Violence touches all of us, -yet,
we are ALL to blame.

We live our lives, day by day,
and We are all okay;
But someone somewhere’s
crying, and screaming “go away”.

We lock our doors each night,
and peacefully, we sleep;
But closer than we think,
a child, sits alone, to weep.

We tell each other that we care,
yet when the neighbours call;
We do not wish to “get involved”,
not even, if it’s small.

If actions speak louder than words,
Then we, are still in silence;
Until We take initiative,
there will, always, be violence.

When we sit alone, and pray,
we mention people, that we know;
What if we actually prayed for others too;
Let’s see how much further, those prayers will go.

We simply Are, ‘humanity’; and
humanity, is One;
Extend who you are to others too,
Without each other, We Are None.

Time ticks fast for Everyone,
We All have lives to lead;
So it’s no excuse to “have no time”
to care, for those, in need.

Look at what we leave behind,
Our legacies, and the next generation;
It’s up to us, We are Their hope;
Teach them kindness, love, and consideration.

When you have reached your journey’s end;
and you lay your soul to rest;
Make sure, that you can tell, Your God;
You gave, Your very best.

Happy Halloween 2014

Jack-o-Lanterns shine your light;
and let the dead find peace this night.

Stand before your Heaven’s doors;
As angels sweep the Earthly floors.

And blessed be he whose candle bleeds;
May stars fulfil your humble needs.

Wash your sorrows with a magic tune;
and dance before the hallow moon.

This hallow’s night, when laughter sounds;
Stand firm and bare-foot on the grounds.

And whisper to the open air;
The joy and love, you wish to share.

Happy Halloween 2014!
