Fox's Wedding

As the rain falls
While the sun still shines
Somewhere in the country hills
The foxes throw a festive time
Of all delights and earthly frills

So gather all the sly with teeth
From distant hill and den
To celebrate beneath the trees
And feast on speckled hens,
In blossom scented breeze

Within a ray
That lights the clearing
Solemn vows are spoken, true
A veil is lifted, eyes are tearing
Into red coats soaken through

A cheer, then let
The fest ensues
They dance upon the dampened ground
And eat of mice and rabbit stew
With cunning talk and yapping sounds

So merry goes
The married day
Until the night has come and gone
The shape of things then shifts
Thither to the break of dawn
And the dew does lift

Night Terrors

Paralyzed
Silenced
Stalked
Invaded
All of this
My mind

Athletic S

Practice
Practice
Dumb within
A soldier’s haircut
Woman's skin
Driven children
Swollen tears
Bronze medallion
Wasted years

Stereolab

Digital beauty encoded in space
Densely packaged with binary relays
A hybrid of English et en Français
Dreaming out loungey soft beats and delays

Super 45’s and magnetic tape
Transfers of energy through vintage keys
Trading the lead to entrance and escape
Analog phases alighting the breeze

Delicate spires of open finesse
Hushed drones that mingle in the subsonic
Limitless visions in limited press
Mixing it down into Duophonic

Sensual ribbons of Marxist ideals
Consciously rolling Motorik appeal

Two Line Thoughts

Sometimes you must lose all you felt you once needed
But all you ever feel is cheated

You can't pull diamonds from the sky
There is no constellation prize

You’ll never be happy, never complete
To you there’s only a drive to compete

Fixing the game to undo yourself
Wishing you were somebody else

My non-Newtonian, liquid heart
Turns to mush and falls apart

I was sitting there still, back to your flaws
You went for the kill and loosed your claws

Spices tracing through my blood,
Earthy smells and petrol mud

Shining like brake lights on a wet night
Seeing red and looking to fight

I know everyone thinks I'm paranoid
But one day I'll catch it on Polaroid

Corporate loans and indecision
Hinder the upper-class’s vision

Lightning reminds you that nature is pretty
And parks are not forests surrounded by city

Spinning brightly, the atmosphere shines all your stars
As you dance on the highway between blurring cars

Traded the love sting for tears on a string
Burned your old photos and shook out your wings

Lost to the winds that dried out your skin
The planes that have fallen are pulling you in

The trains that rolled through, soon dragged you away
With their sun-worn graffiti and staggering sway

To those who mislead you, take no notice
Walk your own path, soft and pure as the lotus

Courting a desert to take your last breath
Relinquishing moisture to camels of death

It isn't win-win when losers contrive
Convincing each other there’s no need to strive

Whenever I’m speaking, I'm not who I say
Not now, not ever, not day-to-day

About inspiration, uncertainty moves me
Or at least I believe that this is what soothes me

Inside your purse you could misplace a car
A tangle of items much like a bazaar

If blood has spilled, it's but a drop
Forever until humans stop

Generals need a lot of attention
And in general I can't stand pretension

Amazing moments dot your life maps
As mediocrity bridges the gaps

Scribbling out some irrational scheme
Strange and evolving communist dreams

Hiding every glitch and flaw
Grooming to be son-in-law

And all the nihilists come to sing
Pointless songs about nothing

Sometimes a wolf will believe he's a sheep
If left too long dressed up in fleece

Like the phantom itch of amputees
Jealousy fills him, now you’re with me

Encoded nightmares from the past
Will keep you safe unto the last

Then into a hard-wired state of delay
This splintered electric decay

Sonic Youth

Arsenals of axes brought by the crate
Pedals increasing experimental
Trashy dissections of raw cityscapes
NYC rockers gone transcendental

Static blasts shredding the off-key high pings
Maracas hit toms to keep structured pace
Drum sticks wedged under alternate tunings
Meted by contrasting booms of the bass

Dissonance anteed raises the ceiling
Shaping sound by analog disruption
Searching/defining an urban feeling
Stark layers of beautiful corruption

Sweet ballads sung without being pretty
Growls and screams about something gritty

Squids, Like Sunshine

You knew I was angry

As we walked apart, along Spadina
Through the pungent summer air of Chinatown
Past the various sea creatures, dried or iced
And fruits I don’t know piled atop sacks of rice
I closed my eyes and let only the breeze run over me
A million particles per second
Imagining I could imagine every one
I let in the sunlight
And wondered in that amazement you only get
By thinking about everyday things
As the heat danced on my skin
And I thought about how it had been
Through eight minutes and twenty seconds of space
To land radiant on my face
I let things go and walked with you again
I felt stand-offish as you took my hand
But was in awe it was there at all
Or that you love me

Spaceman Vs Sea Monster

At the bottom, in her clutches, you’ve found your new home
Her ghostly embrace makes you feel more alone
Spaceman, at peace in the depth of your night
On glamour and glory, you’ve gotten too high
And somehow you slipped and crashed through the sky
...one day you just rocketed by
Earth’s son is drowning in a tub with the chills
The water is draining, blood laced with pills
One of her many eyes saw your descent
While eating the shrimp from a sulfurous vent
Which, until she’d seen you, had made her content
...her heart boiling out through cement
And while you were down, she baited her hooks
She made you feel hopeful with helpless, sweet looks
And nested your spaceship in her hidden crooks
...blowing kisses that warm like chinooks
And she pulled you in close when you started to sink
And confused you with needs and a cloud of black ink
Disarming your valor with sweetie-pie blinks
...with fish guts and sea-rotten stink
Orbiting so long gave you the spins
You splashed down through brine, and the ocean’s slick skin
In barbed tentacles you’ll sleep with your twin
...in challenger deep growing fins

Sweet Alien

I’m in a spin.
Don’t be long.
Need your skin.
Know I’m wrong.

It takes my mind.
All of space.
A fold in time.
Dotted face.

Your oblique eyes.
No rest for me.
Sow this lie.
A galaxy.

Gravitate.
Orbit in sin.
With stars are fate.
Sweet alien.

Taken up
Probed undoing
Returned doubtful
Truth pursuing
Glowing lights
Vacant eyes
Outcast doom
Heartfelt lies
