They Used To Be Me

Tonight is the big night, not exactly a mundayne affair.
Even though I shouldn't care, I wasn't invited, but my boyfriend will be there.
I really do trust him. If I didn't, that wouldn't be right.
I'm just worried about all the other girls that will be
there tonight.
The kind of girl who thinks-he's cute, so I'll flirt a little.
It deosn't matter if he has a girlfriend, she'll still try to get in the middle.
She'll softly bat her eyes and show off her tiny waist,
then she will grab his drink and ask if she can have
a taste.
All the devious things that girls do and say, like ask him to drive her home, and then invite him to stay.
I hope I'm on his mind, and that he deos the right thing,
because I really do love him, you see,
I even wear his ring.
I shouldn't do this to myself, sit here and torture my mind.
I just know in my heart he's the best man I
could ever find.
I'm driving myself crazy, knowing I can't be there to see.
I know how those other girls can act, because those other
girls used to be me.

Years

The more we live, the more we die.
The more we view ourselves and want to cry.
The sands of our years, these sands we sift,
and in our minds, we change and shift.
Everything we'll do, and everything we've done,
our whole lives under the bright, warm sun.
The steps we take to accomplish ours years,
more than not, we take these steps while shedding tears.
Each new day is a challenge for us, and each person we meet, we're not sure whom to trust.
Everything we do, we need to believe in ourselves, and not store the chapters of our lives on dusty shelves.
To take each challenge as a lesson learned,
and each new experience as one that you've earned.

My Angel

You are the sun in my sky,
the brightest star in my night.
Lighting my path when my ambitions are no longer in sight.
You give me strength and courage to believe in my dreams,
without you, life wouln't be what it seems.
You give me my wings when I want to fly, you'll be there to wipe my tears, if ever I should cry.
All of the goodness in you, you've given to me.
You've shown me what real love is supposed to be.
There aren't enough words to express how I fell,
but before you, I didn't know true happiness could be real.
All I can do is thank the Lord above,
for sending you to me and giving me love.

Heartache

People die, people cry.
 Feelings change, feeling strange.
It's not fair how life makes you feel this way.
So over the edge, you don't want to stay.
It hurts knowing things will never be the same, confused, feeling guilty, looking for someone to blame.
Dreaming of the end, everything will be okay.
You know in your heart you'll be together again someday.
Still, you wonder why it has to end like this, yearning, wishing for one last kiss.
One last chance to gaze into their eyes, tell them everything you're feeling inside.
To touch them with loves warm embrace.
Whisper sweet words, see the wonder on their face.
How did everything go so wrong, can't hold back the tears- the pain is so stronge.
Your heart is cold and you're alone inside, can't bare to go on, you just want to die.
You know you have to get through this, you have a life to live.
Remembering to yourself how they once did.
So, day by day, one day at a time, it's hard to keep going, but you have to try.
Slow and lifeless, placing the pieces as they were, the good times and happiness now only a blur.
Deep inside you know you'll be fine.
The healing you'll go through will just take time.
Your heart knows they're in a better, more beautiful place, watching over you and keeping you safe.
Learning to say goodbye and lay them to rest, as a heavy sadness lifts from your chest.
Well, that is what happens when true love is lost, your heart pays a heavy and unbareable cost.
So, don't give up hope and let yourself die too,
In your darkest of times, the deepest love will guide you through
