Israel Olaniyan Poem
The times are fast changing
The certainty of season is
evading
The sure signs of weather has
for long disappeared
Along with our cultures and
moral values has smeared
Oh Arike! may my eyes not see
the evil the day brings
The scorching sun burns so
hot at day
The chilly cold oppresses no
less at night
The youths and young ones
has missed the way
Groping blindly around with
vain confidence in the light
Oh Arike! may you not be deaf
to the wise words of age
Life in the world now seem
strange
Young men move around
deranged
Treating our words with
hapless disdain.
Basking in their own fooly,
prolonging their pain
Arike my daugther! may you
never miss your way.
Day after day our wise words
are ignored
Seconds in minutes
out;pollution permeates our
atmosphere
Caution is thrown to the wind
And we fail to realise the fact
that the man who eats his cake
will never have it.
Arike!Arike!! Heed my words
Like our elders will say;
If the sun claims to be brighter
than the moon,tell me why
doesn't it shines at night?
If the youth claim to be wiser
Why dont they pull a strand of
grey from their hair
Arike! Its high time our words
are heeded.
No man heeds the wise words
of age and still misses the way.
Experience they say is the
better teacher
Lessons learnt from
experience are treasures to be
guarded jealously
The young man who glorious
foolishly in his strength
Is no sooner consumed by
pride than by an adversary.
Arike my daughter! Heed my
words
Follow the path of destiny and
see where it leads
Follow the creator who set out
your life from the outset we
earnestly plead
Heed our words,the wise
words of age
Even though we know it is not
the grey hairs that makes one
a sage.
Nevertheless,it does matter in
the end,b'cos we have been
there in your shoes.
Arike! Arike!! Arike!!! Let it be
known that we played our part
Before the time finally
changes,and the certainty of
season departs
Heed our words and desist
from your actions
He that has got ears, let him
hear...

Israel Olaniyan Poem
Once i stood at the peak of mount
seleya
Observing the red sun and dry winds
of the Vulcan homeworld
Surveying the vast desert land in a
cloud of dust
Silently wishing in my heart that it
would rain
That the dry winds of the north would
cease
And usher in a few minutes of the rain
Suddenly a tremor hit me hard
It was so hard that i could barely stand
At first i thought it was an invisible
force
But then, i realised it was an invasion
Droplets of rain from the southern
hemisphere
Came riding on horses like a calvary
First as a drizzle with a gentle breeze
Then it became so cold and chilly
That the spatering rain froze to sleet
I thought that it might snow
Alas! it was too cold to snow
The lands hunkered in the freezing
darkness
I strayed into some caves to pass the
night
Earnestly anticipating an end to the
storm
Scarcely prepared to survive till
morning
But this time,morning may never
come
As the invasion lasted long into the
night
It kept me stranded in some rocky
caves
Then stopped abruptly as it had
began
I was thanking my stars
Only for it to return with a thousand
legions of soldiers
It was an invasion like no other
The waves increased in amplitude
The rain increased in intensity
Huge drops hit with perceptible force
Like stone pebbles on a corrugated
roof
All of a sudden i was back on Mt
seleya
Staring wide into the dry and dusty
desert
Wondering where it had rained
Then i realised it all happen in my
imagination
It was an impossible wish come true
Just when i thought i had seen it all
Slowly it faded unrecoverable
As the faint memory of a dream
First it was an invasion from the stars
At the end, it became a vision
A dream of the stars.
OLANIYAN ISRAEL
An imagination of rain on VULCAN
home world.

Israel Olaniyan Poem
Have you known a courageous man
The intrepid,a damsel brave at heart
Have you encountered a fearless woman
The valiant,a lad who would dare the stars
It is not a matter of strength
B'cos giants have fallen before little men
It is a question of courage
Young David fell goliath not minding his age
The days may turn darker than the night
The obstacle may weigh you down with all
might
Dont you grope around like the blind
Stay steady and plant your feet like the hind
Its a question of courage
When the chips are down
And the waters so fierce that you might
drown
Don't you give up
Its just a storm in a tea cup
A question of courage
When the way is so blurred and dim
That you could barely see a thing
Don't stop going ahead
Those lands you now walk,no man has
tread
A question of courage
When it seem to be all dark and gloom
And all you see and can think is doom
Don't you quit
The last obstacle is about to tilt
Its all a question of courage
Acting regardless of your fears
Acting amidst the dreads
Holding sway not minding the threats so
high
Almost down but keeping your head up
high.
A question of your courage.

Israel Olaniyan Poem
When the earth stood still
Annd the sun refused to give
her shine
Then the moon was dark
And the foundation of the
world was shaken
Then women trumpeted the
battle cry
Children bath in rage ready to
fight
Merceneries defies tradition
and pledges loyalty
Cowards led the advance force
to the enemies
Who would have thought that
women would draw arms
Or children see the horrors of
battle
Merceneries loyal and patriotic
without pay
Not even cowards turning
brave men overnight
The situation warrants such in
high demand
The human race is in the face
of a total extermination
Horrible aliens from space has
drawn first blood
Terror like never before has
overtaken the earth
Far greater than the horrors of
Hiroshima
Exceeds the cold bloodedness
of hitlers holocaust
Cant be compared to the two
world wars combined
War declared on the entire
human race
Now tell me,why wont women
draw arms
Or children not taste the
horrors of battle
Mercenaries turning fighting
patriots for a cause
And cowards marching
headlong to the death with an
unmatched bravery
It is either now or never
We fight them or we die
We must match fearless to the
war front
We must do battle for our
planet.
A fight to the death
A glorious fall in battle
A hero's welcome at the end
A victorious jubilation for our
land.
Children did see the rage of
battle
Women all drew arms
Coward always at the
fore,leading the advance
And mercenaries passionate
for one cause.
The sun rose again
The earth had been saved
The moon once more gave her
shine
And the foundation of the
world returned to its place.
