Power Hungry

Like we’re on a farm
We chew on their arms
It’s ok if you’re hungry
We have more to eat
It’s ok if you’re hungry
But we’re running out of seats
So get in line boy
And make sure you’re first
So get in line boy
Try and fulfill your thirst
They’re here just for you
So take more than two
Oh don’t you pout
There’s no way we can run out
It’s ok, we’re not the same
We won’t share the blame
And if it’s all the same
We’ll change our names
Our indifference
Can be a fun game
And as they lose their sense
Their unrest turns to flame
But there’s no need for alarm
We can chew our own arms

Day One

Day one; a newborn sun
Bar the door on memories
And now let’s have some fun
Our minds sail off choppy seas
Stand tall, stillness finds your knees
And now let’s do as we please

Forest’s floor bristles with fur
Life carpets the thawing ground
It’s just like her; for a color blur
Heat erupts, a chorus of sound
Everything lost has been found
Heavy hearts have lost a pound

The sun’s rays, a new coat of paint
Melts the pain, darkness’s drain
Kicking a new path with no complaint
‘Cause there’s a fresh day to be slain
And as we peek at day two
Another life begins anew

Heavy Footprints

Our idle breath hung onto the air
Matching Water’s glassy stare
As the bird songs’ giddy notes
Danced beneath their throats
Beneath dancing rays a collected daze
He greeted the pond’s lazy gaze

Our glued eyes slowly climbing
Gradual lingering through heartbeats timing
A brew of brown sporadic spots
Milky eyes still lit with thoughts
An emerald underside sparkles clearer
The lily pad peers a collective mirror

Our eyes imploring, wanting more
Stretching our legs towards the shore
The trees vigilant, a wary gaze
As we stumble through nature’s maze
A warning ripple with something to say
Cautious eyes yearning for another day

A step too steep breaks the quiet
That’s all it takes for nature’s riot
And with one last deepening breath
The frog leaps into nature’s depths
Now she holds her secrets down below
We’re not sure if she’ll let them go

Meltdown

Meltdown
As I awoke nightmares flew from my head
Hugging my knees under covers they found me
Acquainted pain reminds me all I've ever said
I went and told all my good thoughts to flee
I’m melting down so salvage the best of me

Ghostly thoughts flicker from out of their heads
So I hide my crazed eyes, glued to my feet
Terrible pain from the words they've never said
Gasping in silence, my own special treat
My heart has finally lost its steady beat

Wide-eyed trapped behind my rusting cage
Screaming for help that won’t come to me
With all that’s happened it’s time to turn the page
A fitting end, my twisted smile mirrors with glee
I’m melting down so salvage the best of me

Naturally Replaceable

Sleep refuses to come
When you’re in the sights of a gun
Your eyes open just a crack
When no one has your back

Tombstones take hold of the reigns
We have nothing but false claims
Bodies fuel the empty fields
Nothing matters but human yields

So much wasted potential
I hope they weren’t essential
It’s ok we’ll find a replacement
Just a minor debasement

We can toy with our creations
Find some sort of relation
It’s fine if it has a different name
When they all look just the same

Dimly Lit Beauty

Over blistering coats of grey
The stars close their eyes and look away
During days they turn off their lights
While grey blends with the nights

Above this dark, well-trodden dirt
Their weary eyes remain alert
The few bright, sparkling eyes
Soon will learn to cut their ties

Nature’s ripped, bloodied sash
Loosely hangs under coats of ash
Her knotted tangled hair
Droops beneath a sorrowed stare

In her home it’s out of place
A stubborn smile still grips her face
‘Cause in this tainted, twisted earth
The roots of beauty are given birth

All good things left unsaid
The bodies, bones and dead
Just make this green shine so bright
It brings the day and breaks the night
And under blistering coats of grey
Nature’s touch is here to stay

An Isolated Ache

A vivid, smoky ache
Tendrils of a rugged snake
Wispy fangs tear the gut
But fire smokes without a cut

And out in cold air
Ice meets the wary stare
No red can mark the skin
The heat resides within

Outside so cold and lost
Huddle up and warm the frost
Their wary eyes cool and sharp
Hide under thickened tarp

Cuddle up and hug your scars
Share light with just the stars
And beside the ill lit moon
We’ll learn to hide our wound

All About Trees

Someone has to pay it
‘Cause this blood flows so deep
Tireless roots never quit
But their lives seem all too cheap

Embracing the world
Exhaling us our life
Their eyes old and gnarled
We can give back, all our strife

Their color paints the sky
For the birds who never fly
But our love for their beauty
Has long since died

Sun’s unbroken light, a dusty ray
Makes the world seem a bit too grey
They don’t mind, they’ll take the blame
To let us continue this silly game

Just Let It Go

Skies grey and vacant
The sun just a shadow
Smog a nice blanket
Time to let it go

Bellies to the brim
Nature’s routine trim
All we’ll ever know
Time to let it go

Engines break white noise
Cities always grow
Nature a buried toy
Time to let it go

Our friends fleeing
A new state of being
Some say they’re extinct
Could it be linked?

Our bulk is lonely
Seems like us only
It’s almost our time
For a downward climb

And through highs or lows
Our hands are tied, so
All we’ll ever know
We can’t take to go

Digested Compassion

Angry nails skate, digging harshly
Eyes close, a pain with no control
Hidden struggle, nothing new to see
Hand reaching down, a fresh patrol

Eyes downcast, wings dodge wind’s embrace
The damage just for a bite to eat
It seems no feed can avoid a trace
The shadowed side of an addictive treat

And each time he cautiously sips
He feels his well-being start to slip
Oozing inside, the boiling guilt
Melting down the recently rebuilt

And if he just left them alone
Would his sacrifice ever be known?
And if they left him alone
His words would be naught but bones
