You Are Hard

You are hard, you are brash,
Your swagger is flash,
And when we touch base, your talk turns to cash.

You are loud, especially in a crowd,
But when your rowdy anger flies
Your friends are suitably cowed.

You are strong, but weak as well,
When someone's wrong you give them hell,
But when they're right you're even worse -
oh, how we love to hear you curse!

Hopes and hearts you broke before
lie littered by each bedroom door,
In their love-lost legions,
they nurse their dark sweet lesions.

You of ice, then of wild fire,
A self-confessed accomplished liar.
Yet still we dance attendance full,
on you - our heart's desire!

You will not leave a friend without,
But on that friend will scream and shout.
No stauncher ally can be found,
But to your life we must be bound.

Tough as diamond, soft as silk,
No deeper well of kindness' milk.
On we who dwell within your walls,
No shadow of oblivion falls!

The Horsemen

You know they are coming
See the dust in the air
Feel the ground tremble beneath your feet.
Can't quite see them
But you know they are there
Suddenly your face is white as a sheet.

The Horsemen are riding
Your world is ending
No use complaining it just isn't fair.
Swords scything down
Trumpeting stallions
The battle is over so don't even care.

Man's castles are falling
His caverns no respite,
Armies are dust in a flash of might.
The judgement is binding,
The deep dead are rising,
Their sad faces form in the fading light.

You're torn and your tattered,
The scent of blood heavy
Old Earth is shaking, you try to run.
The darkness is closing
You better be ready
The Horsemen are coming, the end has begun!

Heartache's Hill

When you and I are lost sweet moments
fading in Time's book,
And ageing eyes gaze back in time
to see that special look,
Will we smile to see the fashions
we once dared to wear,
In our minds relive the passions
that still linger there.

Will our emotions be as strong
when dreams are far away,
And cinders deep recall the glow
of love by fire-play,
And chasing down the Autumn street
where laughter breaks the chill,
When youth was bright and love made light
of climbing heartache's hill.

Time Together

I lost you long ago
Before we ever met,
When your heart was forged in steel
By one whose name shall rest unsaid.

Still, one day we will be young again,
Ten thousand summers gone.
A glance across a shadowed street
Will catch our fleeting breath.

Deep dark eyes that held in thrall
A love beyond recall,
Will stir a hidden well of life,
Within my whispered soul.

Your smile will bear the distant words
Of long forgotten friends,
Their dreams to cast a spell for us
From God's immortal height.

Though this world will sweep away
All memories, all pain,
Our light will touch this place and fill
These captured hearts, once more.

Heaven itself may rise and fall,
The dust of angels drift,
But I would neither see, nor care,
If this time together's all.
