A Kiss

A kiss is beautiful
When shared its wonderful
It is like the meeting of two souls
Softly merged into one
A passionate expression of emotions-
Without spoken words
Yet the the mouth moves!
The heart leaps!
Sweet magic sizzling!

I Try Really

I try really
To keep my emotions in check
Particularly with you around
But I always fail miserably

I try really
To get you off my mind
and tell myself I'm fine
But I keep thinking of you

I try really
to be with my guys and be cool
trying to join the flow
But I keep calling you

God! oh God
You have got me twisted out
Fingering with my head
Warming my heart
I'm lost in the ambiance of it

I just try to hold on
To be calm
To enjoy our friendship
But i keep wanting more
I keep wanting more of you!

Let's Make Love Tonight

I know you have had a long day, hectic and caustic
You need to rest your bones and lose the stress
What better way than the good old way
A tender sweet session of love and pampering
In a dimly lighted room with petals of roses sprinkled on the bed and floor
First I will fill the bath with warm scented water
Then I will take off your clothes gently and lower you into the bath, lather you with soap and clean you like a baby
You will smell fresh and free, so ready to fly
Then I massage your tired muscles with some aromatic relaxing oil till you sigh with release, the tiredness gone
I will let my fingers linger down below and my tongue do magic up above and together they will bring you to a crescendo of pleasure and stop!
Then I will take my tongue down below and leave my fingers to kneadle up above like I am playing the guitar
Stroking the right keys
Until you scream with mad body rippling pleasure
Only then will I slowly enter your paradise moving ever so gently, afraid to tear open the flood gate of hidden pleasure
Oh but I lose control, fast, furious then slow and all over again
I hear you cry, scream, I see the tears but you are also laughing, smiling
Together we move in close embrace and then we explode, our scent fill the room
That ecstatic and beautiful scent of sweet love making

Thinking of My Nation

If I were the president
Of the this great legacy
We call our home,our country
Left to us long ago
By our long departed great fathers
I will strive with all my heart
To build with it a monument
Dynamic yet stable
Solid and strong
Like the great rock of Gibraltar
She will be the envy of other nations
The pride of generations yet unborn

Alas I’m not the president
I’m but a resident
Like everyone else
I can only watch and pray
Perhaps weep
For once there was a nation
Green and beautiful
Filled with potentials
Whose back is now bent
Under the weight of depression,
Corruption and segregation
One day soon, maybe
Our hope that is now withered
Like dying roses in the evening sun
Will receive a surge of life
And blossom yet again!

You and I may yet sing our nation’s anthem
Head high, chest out
And filled with pride
Shining as the stars
On a darkened night sky
And even though we all can’t be president
We will believe always in a new Nigeria
Vibrant, strong, dynamic and stable
Our country, our pride.

My Beautiful Nonso

Nonso…
How so?
Our love – a mammoth colossus
Now laid waste in tha valley’s low
Shattered glass on plastered floor
Sweet dreams gone with the night
Like hidden shadows

Nonso…
Oh Nonso
Our love – a mammoth colossus
Now a lethargic dance to distant drumbeats
Like dying evening roses
Without passion without glow
Like broken petals on the wind

"This poem is dedicated to all Igbo beauties I have been honored to meet and perhaps love at different points in my life- Africa is Beautiful and Igbo is golden."

While You Are Here

You might as well do some good

As often as you could

Do all that you should

To help someone rise above

If you do,you’ll be a hero

With the heart of a dove

You will never return to zero

No matter how hard

You will always be a standard

By which all good men are remembered

And the bad ones condemned

One day when you go

Like all men someday would

Even in death you’ll blaze with glory

A superlative attestation of history retold

Do all the good you can then my dear

While you are still here.

What You Are To Me

You are the air in my atmosphere
The harmony in my heart's song
The melody thereof taps me awake
If you can't imagine the night without the moon and the twinkling stars
Or the day without the brimming sun
How then my love, can you imagine my life without you?
You are my earth, you are my queen!

Where I Am From

I am from the black earthen pot behind my grandmothers burnt brick store
That springs cold water in and out of season for thirsty souls to drink
I am from pounded yam with melon soup, garnished with mutton

I am from huge greenery with strong and well rooted trees and oceans of rain
Whose backyard is filled with grasses and shrubs much taller than the fences built to protect the houses
I am from the yellow hibiscus, the sunny and cheery daffodils

I am from the Ifa legendary clan
The descendants of Oduduwa, that great servant of Eludumare
I am from the great Sasere dynasty, men of pride and loyalty

I am from the proud households of great Lords, that stand only for the truth
Great warriors who fought for just cause
The stubborn impregnable optimists

I am from the heart of men loyal to Ifa
The great deity whose prayers-
Eludumare never fails to answer

I am from the womb of the great woman who defied science
And fought cancer head on bravely for years, though lost the battle
Opened up hope for others fighting the same battles

I am from broken bones and crumbling gold
I am Adeshina, the son of Aladeshawe
From the Ancient Yoruba land of Owo.

I Have a Dream

I have a dream
I can see it so clear
Almost like a film
Only its not so rare
Not like Luther' I fear
Not whites with blacks
In the same sacks
Eating and drinking
At the same table.
My dream is simple-
To see black and black
Bend their backs
And get to work
With love in their hearts
And hope in their mind
To see blacks all over the land
Unite for common good
And secure the future
For generations yet unborn.

I dream of a new nation
Flowing with milk and honey
Free for all to share and enjoy
A land of peace and stability
Where hard work and honesty
Are essential virtues!
From the Niger to the Sahara
Across Rwanda and Uganda
Down to the sunny city of cape town
All around the globe
Every where black is represented!
Then I will smile and say-
I'm proud am black
A Nigerian without apologies!

Yes! I have a dream.

A Perfect Gentleman Friend At Forty

Never did I meet a man so warm
Full of live and a sunny smile
Sweet like the Scottish cream
The perfect gentleman

Never did I meet a man so warm
With simple gestures and classy acts
Humble yet suave and full of charm
The perfect gentleman

Never did I meet a man so warm
Who at forty has a heart younger than twenty
Elegant, soft yet firm
A perfect gentleman

Never did I meet a man so warm
Who has a kind word for every soul
And a heart so large, so warm
I could go on…

…But as you turn forty my friend
Remember life is just beginning
Laugh to your heart delights
Drink the freshest of wines
Spend time with your kids and wife
Be merry, passionate and never stop loving…

A prayer for you…
May you last long like the Iroko Tree
Bringing warmth, love and happiness to-
Your Family and friends
Happy Fortieth Birthday Babafemi
My perfect gentleman friend and brother!

(This poem is dedicated to my colleague, friend and brother- Babafemi Aina on the Occassion of his 40th Birthday. I wish you many more years of success friend)
