Alyssa Finley Poem
Tonight,
cicadas and crickets
are singing for us
the trees dance and sway
with their wind partner
a red sun listens behind her
sunset curtain
as your smile reflects
the last rays of twilight-
Your breath
brings the sweet summer breeze
to my neck
Your voice
like wind through
the grass
Your arms tangled with me
like winding roots
Your hand is a fortress
in mine-
And in this Eden,
the daisies and dandelions
blanket beneath you and I
A starless sheet
hangs over the world
but the fireflies around us
light our sky,
tonight.

Alyssa Finley Poem
Penguins…
They find eachother
Stick with one another
Together forever
Him with her and her with him
Through the cold and death
Loving eachother
That seeps through
Till the last breath
But if only I could find
My penguin.

Alyssa Finley Poem
Birds sing their waking
Silence dead and gone
Aurora rays pierce the sky
Resurrected dawn
Sunlight drips to your lashes
Slides down to your nose
Your eyes glow in the early light
like a morning rose.

Alyssa Finley Poem
O' how thy eyes are set on me!
My trembling face turns from thee
Thy angelic hands brush my pain
The touch chills December through my veins
When you speak my spirit wisps
My days turn from stone to brass
But the night you shared a kiss
I was chewing glass.

Alyssa Finley Poem
Trapped inside your box
Walls made of nothing more...
Nothing more than invisible profession
Soul tainted weak and sore..
drip..
Sorrow heart behind mask of paint
Tears strolling down the cheeks
Creating rivers of white pastel
And tales never to speak..
drip........................... drip..
Rain beats and pours
Heart's burn intense
No plans to repent
Of silent murder galore..
...bang...
Invisible voice from moving lips...
What is your plea, mime?
Pale skin and blank face
Visible hate in your eyes...
...drip.

Alyssa Finley Poem
Over the mountains of Hershey tint
Beyond the forest of peppermint
More sour than pounds of Lemonheads
Higher than vines of Twizzler shreds
Longer than shores of Pop Rocks
Taller than trees of lollipops
Thicker than chewy taffy stalks
Bigger than cotton candy Ring Pops
Cooler than a Winterfresh breeze
Hotter than Mike & Ike's Hot Tamales
Stronger than a Jawbreaker's pain
More colorful than a Skittle rain
All the children's wish come true
To dive in piles of sweets and goo
So be prepared for sticky hands
This child's going to Candy Land!

Alyssa Finley Poem
Within the days,
eyes of ilex
lulling to the
snowy grass.
Hearts and echoes
beating past.
To want them would be
vox and vex;
My love is silence
at its best.
Speak while I am still
a living verb
and not the words
upon my grave.
Consume me like
the ocean waves,
before I am nothing more
than literature.

Alyssa Finley Poem
Head hangs
She runs away
From both my loving arms
I thought that we were bestest friends,
you cat.

Alyssa Finley Poem
Alizarin azaleas
in the myrtle moss
where my flax feet cross
to the saffron sand,
in my magenta mind...
Beneath a cerulean sky
where the fuchsia fowl fly
to a haematic horizon
for true lavender love,
with my turquoise thoughts...
Ascending a viridian vortex
was my amaranth amour
with its vermilion vim
to your henna hands,
from my hazel heart...
Such silver sincerity
fades to xanadu xenon
as your damson dissent
shoves the taupe truth,
down my thistle throat...
Umber unanimity
in my wisteria world
has turned my crimson comfort so,
indigo.
