Music

You play your music
And I sit and watch
You close your eyes feeling the magic within
I see it and caress it
It's touch it light
And I know that you are happy
I see the care and love inside your heart
And I see that you have also hurt
You finish your song
And a tear lands on my hand
A happy tear
A tear that has known pain
Yet now is not afraid to face it again
Your music has done this to me
And I thank you
You play again

No, They Don'T Care

Not like it matters
Who would care anyway?
Family, friends, teachers
No, to at all
They who only care for them
There isn’t enough concern left
Not for them to care
About what is to happen to me
They who stick up their long noses
They who judge, lie, and deceive
No, they wouldn’t care
Not for one sad soul
Who cries for the world
Who tries for the world
Who the world leaves out
A lonely soul to forever anger and sadden
No, they don’t notice
Not to notice my marshmallow eyes
A sad smile permanently painted on my face
They who see a happy girl
No, they don’t ask
They don’t ask about my past
Or they know sadness lies behind
And dare not breach it
No, their not jealous
Why would they?
Jealous of having no talent?
Jealous of a darkness that clouds my head?
Jealous of crying in the night?
No, they wouldn’t care
Wouldn’t care for me
So who should care for them?
No, not me
I who can try
I who can see a new way
I who can fail
No, no one would care
If I slept and never woke up
If the hazy dawn slipped out of view
If I slept dreamless
A sad portrait of a lonely girl
Who the world forgot

Untitled

A figure in darkness
Cradleing a small package
Trots up the stony ridge of stairs
In the night clouds cover the horizon
No stars can be seen from the gloomy street
A single lantern is lit and the only light
A woman with the hood drawn above her head
Lays a child upon the doorstep of a lonely family
She touches her fingers to her mouth
Then to the child's forehead
A tear filled with happy memories
Lands upon the baby's hand
With one last look
The woman disappears into darkness
As swiftly as she appeared
And the baby gave a cry of sadness
Then all became silent

Unloved By Father

I want to see you
I want to tell you things
But your not here
Is it that you don't care?
Or are you too scared?
I want you to be a part of my life
Yet somehow you forgot me
You sit with your new family
And I wonder if you have forgotten
For a split second
Or an entire year
You must have thought
Running off was the best for me
I can tell you it wasn't
I don't hate you
I hate that you don't care
I do not know what it is like to
Give a card on Father's Day
Or hug a dad when he gets home from work
I desire these things
But I can't have them
So take a second out of your hectic life
And for once
Answer you little girl

My Friend

Deep, thoughtful, and true
My friend
One who judges not
In every way my enemy
In every way my friend
A small light in a dark room
My friend
Bold streaks on white paper
A cry of joy in a tangled world
Unexpected smile on faces of frowns
My friend
A creator, a destroyer, a rebuilder
A seed, a dead flower, a bud
Spring, Fall, Summer
Earth, Fire, Water
My friend
It could be anyone
Someone who is
Deep, thoughtful, and true
Someone who is
My friend

Hurting

I try not to
I really do
But you can't see that
You only see that I'm hurting you
I protect myself from others
You protect yourself from me
I hurt with words, slaps, & jokes I don't mean
I try not to
I really do
But you told me
And I see that I snap, slap, and crab
Now I cry
And I do not try to stop it
My mind is in a coma
Protecting itself from hurt
From the pain and the cage
Now you try to break in
Saying that I do not hurt
But you're wrong
I hurt whomever I touch
Do not get me wrong
You've really been there for me
But I do not want to hurt
So I must forget. . .

Cheating

Always second best
Even though I do not rest
You forever seem to beat me
Were you cheating from me?
Do you consider the bleeding emotion of me?
When you steal my work, my life, my everything?
You take upon yourself doubt and power
Do you not cower from the mistake you made?
You are my competitor
You do, see, feel things that are my worsen
Though feel my strengths if I have but one
You will fall before me with a strength you yet not know
I will take back what you stole
My life, my work, my everything
For I will show mercy, where you show none
And give you a life, a masterpiece, a world
Though the other competition is not yet undone
I will find solitude in these words
For hoping you will mind what I have done
And not do again to others, what you have done to me
I see that competition is a beast
And that mercy is a key
To taking upon you what is best for me
