Path of a Burn

A Dribble a Trickle a Dram a Splash Flowing Down a Brae Past the Steading Rushing Over Rocks Creating Crag and Tails Waves Wash and Bleather on the Bank Water Shimmers and Shines in the Sunlight so Braw Dinnlin the Earth and Trees as it Flows Over Moor and Though Glen Toward Linn and Loch Eventually Passing a Stone-Thrust and Becoming the Sea This is the Path of a Burn.

When We Die

We are memory’s preserved and not forgot We become ghosts or spirit hosts In life we hate the name, In death we feel no shame Body’s Evicted and re-homed in the ground But that’s not for me as I stated before passing I want to be cremated I added to my will as a must a request for my mortal dust It was a simple wish find a peaceful place full of fish And set me free as this is where I will finally rest.

Man In Red

A robin sits on a frosty white window ledge a boy is sliding down a hill on a shiny new sledge As a fat man in a red and white suit falls down the chimney picking himself up with a ho ho ho! He places gifts wrapped in pretty paper and finished with colourful ribbons and bow With a look of glee the fat man in red and white knows its time to flee Its 6 am as little Tommy creeps down the stairs manoeuvring forward past mince pie and milk remains to the fire place so warm a spark of joy followed by a smile across his face as little Tommy finds his reward for being good.

The Ribbon

Looking down at her dead face I tie the ribbon in a foolish way The delicious fragility of her china doll complexion The atmosphere feels so heavy with this travesty Her loved ones will remember her smile and her laugh Looking into their tearful eyes I can see their one wish!

Deterioration of a Phoenix

Here lies the dilapidated body of a phoenix With its fiery blood flowing like lava Its eyes of amber set in anger Screeching out for beautiful metamorphosis That will come with pending resurrection

The Ribbon - Improved

Looking down at her lifeless dead face
The delicious fragility of her china doll complexion
I tied the ribbon in her hair in a foolish way
The atmosphere is so heavy with this tragedy
Her loved ones enter, I hope they will remember her alive
Her warm skin, loving smile and playful laugh
But looking into their bloodshot eyes, I can see their one wish
I know from my heart this wound will never heal.
