A Life

Many years ago..
I gave you my life.
You took me in when I was lost and had no one to care for me.
I became as Your very own.
As days passed by
Life’s worries ‘caused my heart to go astray
I stumbled and fell trying to make it on my own.
On my knees I fell
Crying out for your mercy.
“Lord,” I cried “I can’t make it on my own.”
You smiled that loving smile
and gently scooped me up into Your loving arms.
You mended my wounds and tended to the scars of my broken heart.
You clothed me with Your righteousness.
You filled me with your spirit.
And you covered me with Your blood.
You have showed me the true meaning of love.
Your love is so deep, deeper than all the oceans.
It is higher than the mountains.
It is brighter than the noonday sun.
YOUR LOVE ENDURES FOREVER

The Search

My world is collapsing in on me.
Each piece of debris buries me deeper in my own despair.
Darkness surrounds me.
No glimpse of light can pierce the destruction of my world.
Tortured by the weight of debris entrapping me.
My body weakens as each breath shallows…
Hope has diminished as my body struggles for each breath.
No one even knows that I am here.
A faint sound almost escaped unnoticed.
But it captured my attention.
Again I heard it.
Each moment I grew louder.
With each sound , the crushing weight that entrapped me lightened.
A flicker of light, barely noticeable at first,
cast the darkness into the abyss.
As each piece of broken world was removed,
Life’s breath reentered my dying soul.
A gentle voice called to me.
I stretched out my crippled hand.
A slight murmur escaped my lips,
As a sweet lullaby was whispered in my ear.
My eyes closed as I was lifted out of the chaos.
The destruction of my world left my body bruised, broken and covered with ashes
of despair.
The ashes that covered my body was washed away.
Each part of my broken body was tended to with gentle care.
My body was nourished with the finest foods.
And my thirst was always quenched.
As I looked upon my “Savior”,
He smiled at me and took my hand.
“My child” He spoke lovingly.
“ I have traveled from afar searching for you.”
“What is your name?” I muttered in amazement.
“I AM THE KING.”
Many thoughts raced through my mind.
“A King, himself rescued me?” I questioned.
He looked at me with such great love.
“Yes my child, I love you and gave my life for you.
Live with me in eternity.”

Into the Depths

Sands stream into the bottom of the hourglass.
Each moment an eternity.
Darkness surrounds me.
Despair cripples my mind.
I shiver at the start of a new day.
What will the world load on my shoulders today?
Tears fill my eyes,
Tears of defeat and pain and strife.
BUT…
Life must go on.
I stepped out into the world to start the day.
Not even half-hearted could I find my way.
Step-by-step I made my way into an existence that only I knew.
My soul was empty.
Hollow to the core.
To me, life was useless…
What on earth am I here for?
My steps slowed each breath I took.
No end in sight.
I screamed with all my might.
Bitterness dug deep within my being.
My heart burst forth hopelessness.
I screamed once again.
My scream echoed in the hills and the valleys.
It reached into the heavens and into the depths of the seas.
Each echo grew dimmer until it echoed no more…
Still I am here,
Searching for a door.
A door to escape from my defeat, my pain, my strife.
A voice grew within me.
It called my a friend.
Told me I was special.
That I was His kin.

I Saw You

I stand on the edge.
The edge of depression and despair.
All hope is gone.
Lost in the darkness of my soul.
I close my eyes tightly.
Tears stream down my face.
My soul is overtaken by hopelessness.
I fall to my knees.
My heart slows its beating.
My breathing shallows.
My life flashes before my eyes.
A life of mere existence.
A life of pain and regret.
As my life slowly ebbs away,
My ears can barely make out the whisper.
The soft whisper that my life was not in vain.
Whispers of you are precious to me.
The compassionate voice, so full of love,
Speaks to me by name.
As my name was spoken…
The darkness that overshadowed my soul crept away.
Hopelessness is no more.
The glimpse of glory my eyes witnessed was…
BREATHTAKING.
Brilliant rays of blinding awe,
Stimulated every sense of my being.
My child, your life IS worth living.
As he spoke my eyes followed his gaze…
AND
I saw you.

Eternity

Every heartbeat whispers Your name.
Each breath reflects Your undying love.
Under Your wings,
I dwell in safety and warmth.
I soar upon Your wings and gaze across the heavens.
The vastness of the universe You have created
Displays Your glory.
To think of breathing life’s breath without knowing Your love
is but in vain.
For I am but flesh and bone.
At death my body is no more.
But my spirit will dwell with You in glory throughout
ALL ETERNITY.
My soul will rest in peace at my death.
Just to gaze upon Your face I would consider myself blessed.
I would consider myself in paradise.
I long to touch the scars of Your hands , Your feet and side.
To be in Your presence,
I must lose my body
But I would gain eternity.
