Hearts Don'T Break, They Only Bend

I wish this world of make believe could heal the heart I never had.

And I would be lying to myself,

if I said these stars didn't look lonely tonight.

But I have read your words a thousand times,

and I wonder if they all are lies....

All you wrote,

in your good-bye note,

was “Remember babe, there is no consolation prize..

for that pain behind your eyes”

So let us mourn the better days we left behind,

So let us forget the angry words and broken promises,

But will I ever let go?

Will I ever forget the morning glow of the sky,

on that first night we spent together?

Yet all you wrote,

in your good-bye note,

was “Remember babe, there is no consolation prize...

for that pain behind your eyes.”

Have I forgotten how to smile,

when the sun doesn't shine?

Have I forgotten how it feels,

to be empty and alone?

But don't you worry about me,

because I am finally free.

Before it becomes a puff of smoke,

I remember what you wrote,

in your good-bye note,

“Remember babe, there is no consolation prize....

for that pain behind your eyes.”
