The Animal Atheists

There's no such thing as a Hindu horse, nor a Catholic cat
There's no such thing as a Protestant parrot, you can always be sure of that

There's no such thing as a Rasta rabbit, nor a Mormon mouse
There's no such thing as a sheep thats a Sikh, on that you can bet your house

These creatures have no religion at all, no sectarian divide
Their only ''rules'' are created by nature; and nature will provide

If only the ''clever'' human race had no superstitions
There'd be no more wars at all, no more senseless missions

For religion is based on superstition, filled with legend and myth
Telling you how to live your life and whom you should walk with

Back to that nesting bird in the tree, or even that wild boar
Have you ever heard of an animal that created a world war ?

Grey Skies

I woke up today, the skies they were quite grey
I knew right then it was to be a dreadful awful day
For those dull dark clouds ignored all the crowds
They looked at me only - then this they had to say

Your woman is leaving - you can't make her stay
The love of your life is moving away
The clouds had to give me the painful awful truth
Then they reminded me I'm no longer a youth

When I wake up tomorrow, if that is the case
The only thing that's guaranteed those tears on my face
Now I ignore the crowds, 'cause of those damned clouds
For they had to let me know I'd run my final race

My woman is leaving - I can't make her stay
The love of my life is moving away
The clouds had to give me the painful awful truth
Then they reminded me I'm no longer a youth

''The Plight of Alan Yardley''

Before I begin - please note in Britain ''JSA'' means ''Jobseekers Allwance'' - £147-00 per fortnight. Out of that comes mortgage, electricity, water and service charge - easy it aint ! - ''A few bob'' would be ''a few dollars'' in the U.S. ''Flat'' would be ''apartment''

The Plight of Alan Yardley

Do you know Alan Yardley ?
Not his real name - not even hardley

Alan smiles and tells a joke
Yet when he gets home he has to choke

He's on JSA - can't pay his bills
Another victim of today's ills

He wonders how things got so bad
Remembering when he was a lad

For then he had money to spend
Today he cannot comprehend.....

.....why he cannot get a job
He only wants to earn a few bob

To pay the mortgage on his flat
Plus other bills on the mat

I'm sure you know him, I'm sure you do
For Alan is really me......and you....

The Powers That Be

Those at ''The Top'' may have a degree
Whatever you think ''The Top'' to be

Groomed and smart but looking so tense
Because they have no common sense

Common sense is overlooked
Possessors of it ? - Their goose is cooked

This is because the powers that be
Have no common sense you see

The powers that be always say
The subject ''Economy'' won't go away

In fact they give me a pain in the tooth
'Economical' only with the truth !

Where's the next war coming from ?
We need another place to bomb

That is where our money goes
Creating death and a thousand woes

Libya, Iraq, Afghanistan
Look what happened in Vietnam

The ''Politics'' game fills me with frisson
Just one question - why don't they listen....?

The powers that be always say
Creating war is the only way

Making themselves a whole lot of money
On OUR taxes - it ISN'T funny

Then having made mistakes galore
THEIR troubles are brought to YOUR door

As for me ? - MY only fix ?
Stay away from politics....
