J. Dover Poem
cobblestones of quicksand
tapestries of oil
teardrops of marble
left out to boil
fingerprints of tree sap
diamonds of wood
ceilings of water
- not what it should
sea breeze of fire
windmills of stone
whispering of evergreens
as I stand alone

J. Dover Poem
Toes curled around the white sharp edge
Head peering over the steep slope
Down down down falls the cliff
Yet up up up soars my hope
The rippling wind, the crashing waves
White foam against white cliffs- so grand
Furthermore a white sky dropping white snow
A white dress, and a white rose in hand

J. Dover Poem
Wounded soldier, just how do you fare?
You look in need of one's tender care
Those bruises from battle, so black and blue
Cuts from the warfare that's so hard on you
I'll bandage your head and hold your hand
Until sleep carries you off to another land
Just close your eyes and dream of home
Dream happily, that you are never alone
And when darkness takes you away from me
Have hope that you'll depart me painlessley
My wounded soldier, oh how do you fare?
Among those in Heaven, I know you are there

J. Dover Poem
she's lost
and she's hiding
worn from the battle she's fighting
never crying
but always wishing
that there's something big she's missing
she is here
but feeling hopeless
in the mirror she sees an ogress
feeling foreign
in her own skin
in every game she cannot win
she's scared
and she's shaking
while the cold, cruel world is waking
she is up-
always awake
her biggest fear, her worst mistake

J. Dover Poem
the smile of a stranger
the caress of the summer breeze
the random laugh of a child
doubled over to its knees
the gentle crash of the ocean
the hand settled in mine
the clouds making faces
in this endless space of time

J. Dover Poem
Will the world still be spinning, Will the sun still be out
Will the waves still keep crashing, And laughter all about
Will the sky still be moving, Will the moon still be bright
Will the children still be praying, On and through the night
Will the cars still be running, Will the snow still come down
Will the movies still be showing, Will all leaves be shriveled and brown
Will the world still be spinning, Will the actor still bow
Will my heart still be beating, A hundred years from now?

J. Dover Poem
As I sat by the seashore,
Oh, how I wished for more,
I stepped into the water,
I saw a sea otter,
All by the seashore,
I smiled with delight,
And disappeared into the night,
I was swimming with fury,
Soon my whereabouts became blurry,
Never again was I found,
Never again on the ground,
For death became more,
All by the seashore
This is a poem I wrote way back when i was 12, I'm surprised by how good I was back then- so I decided to post it :) enjoy

J. Dover Poem
Right now, it is November
And soon it'll be December
Yet the cold has still not come
Though fall has far from begun
Oh it wasn't even cold in September
The leaves just started to fall
And some, still green- but not all
Have left the safety of the trees
For the sun's warm, frantic pleas
To ignore winter's desperate call

J. Dover Poem
Lift anchor and slowly you drift out to sea
Your back is turned to the land
The creak of the sailboat, the crystal-blue sky
Behind you- you still see the sand
You've been there and done that but still feel so small
Your troubles have left you weak
Alone in the ocean, the steering gets hard
You cry till you can no longer speak
A storm moves in closer, you didn't see it before
Soon lightning strikes you and you're down on the floor
Chorus:
The winds will prevail, it'll always keep blowing
So put up your sail and go with the flow- and
Know that you're special, know you're enough
To get yourself going when the going gets rough
No matter the rainfall that falls from the sky
Stand tall with the courage that'll help you get by
And when the storm's over and there's no danger zone
You feel strong, you stand strong- for you're not alone
You walk in the street in the middle of the day
pondering the things you have known
Been told that you're pretty but told that you're weak
Ever since you were well enough grown
You remember the times that had caused you to fall
When walking you start to sway
As you pass by a stranger, he gives you a smile
And that smile lights up your day
When nothing goes right and you're on verge of tears
Let the smile come in, let it calm all your fears
(chorus)
Those living on shadow look up to your light
You're the candle on a hill
When you're strong naught can get you, you can't be brought down
So the storm is at a standstill
Though at times you don't feel it, you're stronger than most
In your footing you seem so grand
Others will join you when they see who you are
Your strength shows in the way that you stand
An armada comes at you and your little team
Can you stand strong for me and follow your dreams?
(chorus)
You feel strong, you are strong... You're never alone

J. Dover Poem
The journey home is harder
Than the journey to the abyss
Coming back from so hard a trail
Is something I will not miss
