Wounded Soldier

Wounded soldier, just how do you fare? You look in need of one's tender care Those bruises from battle, so black and blue Cuts from the warfare that's so hard on you I'll bandage your head and hold your hand Until sleep carries you off to another land Just close your eyes and dream of home Dream happily, that you are never alone And when darkness takes you away from me Have hope that you'll depart me painlessley My wounded soldier, oh how do you fare? Among those in Heaven, I know you are there

This is the first poem I have ever read that brought a tear to my eye. I am a veteran and I have seen many of my 'best friends', die. A subject that is still hard for me to talk about. Your poem is so touching, especially for me since I actually held the hand of one of my buddies while he died. I will never forget that experience and your poem is a tribute to all the brave men who paid the ultimate price. On behalf of my fallen friends, Thank-You for not forgetting about them. Fantastic write.
