Fiery Skies

Fiery Skies

The fiery sky softened by a
Haze of golden streaks,
Silent serene accord,
Majesty of floating clouds
Weaving rosy ribbons in the sky--
The departing day meets in a shade
Of the ascending crimson
A calm of an incoming night.
Over a fiery horizon darkness comes.

Cain and Abel of September 11th

On September 11th, In the early morning, When my train stopped In the New Jersey fields, I saw the Twin Towers. Painted by sunrays Into a golden tone, they were Climbing the New York City's Peaceful blue sky. Two magnificent monuments To able human minds. On the wings of terror, Propelled by hatred and revenge Praying to their God of killers, They came out of nowhere. The barbarians. Suddenly, They came Unexpected. Without any warning. It was an early morning Of September 11. In my office, a short distance away I heard a sudden thunder. My building shook up. I looked through the window. I saw people running away Down Broadway. White paper sheets were snowing Down slowly in the air. It was a nice, warm, sunny September 11th day When the downtown Manhattan Became hell. The news soon came: An airplane hit the North Tower, then The South one faced the same fate. Standing on the street, nearby, I saw the Towers. Bleeding fire, smoke was Spreading through their wounds. The fire was getting stronger but They still stood. Firm. Wounded heroes. Till their end. It was impossible to imagine The horror of victims, their shock. Their pain. There was no warning. Nobody expected it. It was such a nice, sunny, warm morning. It was supposed to be September's Another great day! Suddenly I realized-- Something Went wrong with our world. Apocalypse came. Time was shifted back To the primitive ages, Long before civilization began. Long before people learned The pain of unnecessary wars. Long before Moses, Carrying stone tables with The “Thou shall not kill” commandment, Came back From his meeting with God. Then I saw nomads -- On camels’ backs, Somewhere, in a desert. I saw --Cain, Jealous for love of God, Killed his brother Abel. Bloody revenge -- Now, with weapons, Stronger then knives, one may kill Many more Abels and again, For primitive barbarians, It is much easier to kill -- In the name of God.

End of Summer

End of summer

The ruby soft wildflowers,
Jewels in the yellow summer field--
Buzzing honey bees are spiraling
Down with the flower falling petals.
The chorus of happy birds sings in
The emerald sky that is
Carrying trapped
Rainbow rays of sunlight.
Sweet smell of the starburst earth
Spreads with the wind’s cooling breeze--
Mocking the bird’s laugh
In the endless sky.

First Blossoms of Spring

First Blossoms of Spring
Displaying a pink cloud of fragile flowers, like a hopeful debutante, an old tree put on a new dress. Between fresh green leaves, delicate flowers look like colorful buttons fastened to the tree branches by The warm hands Of spring. Around, warm wind dances, embracing joyful tree branches. Kissed by passionate sunrays, they dance waltz with the wind. Look.. Busy bees arrived to kiss flowers. And birds sing thankful hymn to spring’s glory, celebrating moments of the beauty, which too soon will have to fade away…

Insatiable Hunger

Insatiable Hunger Yes, The bread, salt, and water -- I had them every day, and I took them for granted. Instead, I was missing soda, ice cream, and candy. You were my daily bread, somebody to whom I could confess All my worries and hopes. All the problems of my day I could share with you. Now, you are gone forever; I hope that you are happy In heaven. My daily bread is gone. You were my daily bread, somebody to whom I could confess All my worries and hopes. Somebody with whom I could share all the problems Of my day. Now, my entire life had changed. This strange world around looks So empty. And I feel an insatiable hunger. Oh, God, For how long it will be possible, To survive only On a soda, ice cream and candy?

Painting By Words

I want to describe
The stars as shimmering skylights

The wind as a strong breeze
Of an ocean's freedom

Butterfly's slow flight
For the sun's love

Silently darkened starry night
At an ocean's calm shore

A fisherman who has found
Safe harbor before a strike of a storm

Mother's loving touch
Of child's silky hair

I want to describe
Power and love of God.

Childhood Dreams

Childhood Dreams

Sometimes
I dream about the time
When being a child
Was so simple.
Dreams about an old home flow--
Bringing back Christmases,
While trying to play
An innocent child again
In my dream a red-nose reindeer
Takes me back home
Where my mother and father,
Long dead,
Are waiting for me
At the Christmas tree
With gifts of happy
Childhood memories.

Love Song

Love Song Leaving façade of dead shadows, And fading memory of past failures, I dream about tomorrow. I will sail again to it In a boat of forgiveness, Singing about Everlasting love.

Wheel of Fortune

Wheel of Fortune Myself, rising into the sky, Then bowing to the earth with a deep bow. Flying to the top with joy Then coming down with a trembling fear. I look at the wheel of fortune Time flies so fast. Too fast. With my life swirling in it.
