For the Love

This is for the love… This is for the love of my people… Le hase bale siko. Remember Bantu Steve Biko?.. I write what I like. When I’m on the mic, I tell it like it is bro. Every time you’re by yourself, you reach for your cellphone. Trying not to feel alone, you check for the dial tone. Then you try to figure out, why nobody’s home.
This is life, in the zone of an African on his own.

Spark a light, burn a whole in his soul. Put his candle out. I stick my hand out; the needle goes in my vein. No more pain, just a flame burning more holes. In a plane, dropping bombs on my own folks As we move ever so close, I see the rope, I tie the noose, then I push off on my toes. There it goes.

My own life flashes before me, I see a ghost, I’m having hot flushes, I can’t breathe. I hesitate, then I choke, my eyes close I’m in the tunnel, it’s getting bright, I see the light, it’s getting close Oh my GOD this is it, aint no turning back I’m kicking and screaming, but there’s nothing coming out My cellphone is ringing… GOSH! I can’t pick it up Wait a second; got it… that’s a knife in my pocket I cut it, I’m falling, I can’t breathe, I’m crawling Who’s that calling, I can’t see, I’m crying I did it all for the love.

Rubbing Shoulders With the Streets

For the sun is yet to rise
Are you alive, where do you reside?
I can’t see you, it’s like you have been put on ice.
Give me a piece of you and not a slice
Life is like a game of dice.
You throw it hoping to get a six, until you realize that the is no quick fix
No matter how much I cry or try I just can’t seem to get this right.
Would you look at that, the clouds are clearing.
The weight of the world I am not longer bearing.
I can see the horizon,
I feel like I am now living in unison.
Once again, I can see the sun shining.
And I can feel myself smiling, for the sun has risen… and my joy will never again remain hidden.

True Introspection

Did you go to school and study law?
Why do you feel the need to comment on my every flaw? Oh! Your right to freedom of expression, agreed.
But why take it to the extent of causing someone’s depression?
Is it plain boredom or is there a hole in your soul that you need to feed?
Day in, day out, you sit there and gossip. Wake up it’s not a paying job, stop being mean and sordid.

Whenever she walks by, you call her names. Since you’re so big on rights, what about her right to dignity and a good name?
Do tell me, what is it exactly that you gain, from causing so her so much stress, agony and pain?

Her colourful soul you have tainted, and trust me it cannot be fixed by being painted. Please tell me why you have so much hatred.
I am clueless, please put me in the picture and I’ll get you a new frame.
A kind that contain all your hate and rage, that can have you start on a new page.
Start afresh with no regrets, a promising life with no secrets.

Buamotho, thetha or khuluma, uyegeleukuziyenzauguluva.
You’ve got a new lease on life… and you’re now leading a good life.
You now know how to thrive without putting in a knife in the backs of those in your life. Right the ones you have wronged, Apologise, rebuild friendships and strengthen bonds.
Vow never to go back to the tongue lashing destruction, for you have healed and found a sense of purpose and direction.

Connected But Out of Reach

You are cell bound, which is why you are presumed missing and you can never be found. When you’re on your phone, you never make a sound. Come to think of it nobody has ever had you laughing out loud.
You’re hardly ever around;you’ve even started to fade into the background. And when you’re lost you cannot be found. What can I say? You are cell bound.

The only time I see you outside, is when you’re pacing around trying to get a signal to logon to yet another site.
After that you go out of sight.
Wherever you went, you used to greet, now you just don’t have the time, because you have to tweet. Your social skills are crumbling at your feet, and you can’t even see it because it does not appear on your cell phone screen.

You always have time for online comments, but you can never take a moment to see that your friend is in torment. I am not trying to judge, Just trying to give you a nudge.
I am not trying to preach but rather to teach.
While you are cell bound please keep in touch. Keep to the ground so that you can always be found, and be around for those close to you. Because when you fall into the deep end they’ll around to make sure you don’t drown. And whenever you’re sad they are always there to chase away your frown. So please keep in touch and don’t let them down.
And always remember: your network is family and friends,
their signal are always strong.
Your battery fully charged with love and care.

Father, Do Not Let That Cape Fall Off

Father, don't ever let that cape fall off...

Vivid dreams...lucid dreams
Forever Wondering of what could've been
Had u taken the time to allow ur fatherly side to be...
Father I wish u could've stayed...
For this I strongly prayed...
Stayed and watched her blossom instead of running off until ur shoes had no bottom
You could've stayed and protected her instead of watching her be plagued...
Plagued by the disease of growing up without her father and letting men make her belief she had no other...
You are the one that opened up the door to the violence she suffers in silence.
You were meant to be her hero but instead ended up being drawn to the iron streets like Magnito,
Father wake up,
Sit up, step up, and beef up on that love you have inside...
For your daughter in you, she shall forever reside.
Quick, soul search before she leaves forever in that hearse...
Reveal that side, that they call soft...father don't let that cape fall off.
