I Didn'T Have Time

I didn't have time to wait for him each night
I didn't have time to sit there and pick a fight
I could wait for him to come home
stumbling back from the bar in a crooked line
but I didn't have the time.

Nearing 30 and still no kids
divorced and on my own
yet so much life to live
do I try and fall back in love
start the family and settle in a town
where so much of my hurt inside comes from
I could toss and turn and never decide
but I just didn't have the time

A positive outlook is what I need
knowing now I can plant my roots
any place I please
not tied down, finally free
then why is it that I'm still unhappy

I can dwell in my mistakes
I can sit down and cry
I can stay awake at night
wondering why

but that's no way to live
make time for your happiness
make time for your wellness
being alone isn't so bad
plan for the future, leave the past behind
now you have the time.

Goodbye To Us

There is a piece of me that is broken
it has been for a year
the day I left him I thought my head was clear

It seemed like the right move
we were both unhappy
both confused

We tried to fix our marriage
we'd fall back into a rut
I left him with a letter
and the memories of us.
