Sweet Contradictions

I'm a little too much, or at times not quite enough,
I'm too sensitive, too distracted or at times just too tough.
I'm too in my head, or say hurtful words without thought,
I'm super focused on the ball, and then suddenly, energy's at nought.

I either notice it all, or see very little
I can be softly spoken or when annoyed can sound brittle
Without words my face tells you all you need to know, but I promise you this, I really don't mean it to show.

I'm either full of self confidence or fueled by self doubt, I know it's hard to understand when I still haven't figured it out.

My life is such a sweet contradiction you see,
So hard to live this modern life, when I'm not sure who to be.

I do have some great traits though I swear,
I am creative, loving and have crazy ideas out of nowhere,
I love with all my being and care so deeply,
That my head and my heart are at war so uniquely.
My head says act how society wants you to be,
My heart screams back, that's just simply not me!

So please try not to judge, when I'm just trying to find me.
I'm simply on a journey, to navigate life with that thing called ADHD

The witches you couldn't burn

So many innocent women were slaughtered in the name of Witchcraft.
It's just such a crazy concept, I don't know whether to cry or laugh.
They'd get burned at the stake for any indifference,
I mean how stupid must people be, for having such ignorance?

Questioned for having an opinion, a voice or even, just a black cat?
Come on, really? how silly is that?
If I had lived in those times, I would have been one of the first to go.
My love of crystals, skulls, A deck of Tarot.
My love for the weird unknowns, anything occult,
But because of this, Death would be the result.

You'd be ostracized, just for speaking out of turn.
So many innocent women died back then. Such a concern.
A way to control women, You see it was a ploy,
A strong woman in that society was dangerous, they must be destroyed.

They'd victimise women to the point of no return,
But we are the descendants of the witches they just couldn't burn.

Lose myself to the music

Musics not for everyone, Some people can take or leave it,
But music is so important to me. I literally live and breathe it.
I tell people music is food for my soul,
I have such a mixed taste, I listen to anything, indie, country, pop to rock n roll.
When I hear a certain song, the memories race,
It takes me right back to when I heard it, what I was doing, and the place.

A good song, can make you forget, remember or smile.
Or take you back to a happier place, for a while.
I often make up random songs for my children and cats
I hope in the future my children remember them, and laugh about that.
Because music is part of your childhood, happiness, sadness and truth.
Music can make you feel vulnerable or even bulletproof.

Music fuels me with happiness, helps so much with my mental health.
I can escape into my love of music and be my true self

Whenever I'm overwhelmed it always seems to soothe it,
So I follow Eminem's lead and Lose myself to the music.
