I understand                                
You’ve never held that knife in your hand
 to need the pain it can cause 
And for your thoughts to stop 

I understand 
It’s hard to comprehend
 It’s hard to see 
but I’m still me 
just with a few scratches 
that match how I feel

 I understand 
I don’t want to die 
and I don’t want attention 
but I can’t stop that impression 

I understand 
it doesn’t affect you 
but it’s still true 
do I dare 
To ask
If you care 
I don’t understand
