Blue Morpho Butterfly

sapphire petals
screaming out
in rage.

black tears
falling heavily
onto wings.

two wispy
threads tugging
furiously lightly.

grey streaming
outward onto
azure expanse.

slight wind
catching in
petite sails.

gentle dwarf
feet clinging
on tightly.

vines draping
over a
worn twig.

ripened yellow
fruits ready
to fall.

brush lining
slivers of
maple branches.

divine being
of nature
taking flight.

Once Upon a Time

a piercing gaze of lonely crystal eyes.
a roll of ribbon unrav'ling itself.
voluptuous lips speak a thousand lies.
the torn binding of a book on the shelf.

wine at the bottom of a fragile glass.
the light dancing on the rippling water.
the fairy godmother''s spell is now cast.
fly down the stairs to where you last caught her.

run to her, caress her one moment more.
eternal flame, the torch-let it be lit!
let ruffles of her dress glide o'er the floor.
pray that time be stopped and savor e'ry bit.

and tell her whether she be near or far
she will always be there, there in your heart.

Pondering

waves
going up
and down.

soft
footsteps on
the ground.

unfamiliar
empty
space.

ocean
spray on
my face.

water
skimming
my bare feet.

two
lovers
never meet.

broken
shards of
my heart.

all my
life is this
of part.

The Rose

a girl,
she plucked off
a rose,
and touched her lips
to the lips of
the rose-
sniffed the fresh smell of
the red rose.

like spring rain it smelled.
like spring rain it smelled.

a lone tear
from morning dew
trickled down
the rose''s
red, red face.

the rose
then fell from
the girl's
hand as she
hurried off to greet
her friends.

Not Perfect

your hair's
a little messy,

your lips,
slightly chapped.

i can tell
you wore
the same shirt
yesterday,
but i don't mind
at all.

bags have
formed under
your eyes
from lack
of sleep.

your shoes,
muddy after
a run
in the rain.

but, if
anything,
there's
one thing
you should know.

i like you
just the way
you are,
even if you're

not perfect.

Your Property

take my
hand and
pull me
under.

claim me
as yours.

lean
in close
and sign,
tracing
your name
over my heart,

then seal
the contract

with
your
lips.

The Locket

smooth,
cold,
comforting.

it is
the only
thing that
keeps
my knees
from
buckling,
my heart
from
shattering,
me from
breaking.

the locket
which he
had casually
slipped
around
my neck
i now
clutched
tightly in
my hands.

i unable
to control
them let
my tears
roll from
my eyes,
dropping
onto the
thin glass
that separates

the pictures
of him
and me.

Goodbye

the time
you held
my face
in your hands,

tears welled up
in my eyes,
ready to fall,
ready to rain
down my skin.

but in my heart,
i always knew
that we were
meant to say

goodbye.

The Piano

fingers fall.

a chord
is struck.

white linen
sheets wrap
around me

as ocean
mist sprays
all over
my face.

matching
the rhythm
of the tide,

i play
the song
you taught me
long ago.

Forbidden Love

the time you took my
frostbitten hands in yours
and held them against your face.

the darkened days soon
to come as depressed clouds
showered the earth in rain.

my silky hair
sprawled aimlessly
across the bed.

a soft, feathery kiss.
three words never
to be spoken again.

the chains hugging
me tightly, letting
me go no further.

the pain hidden behind
vacuous hazel eyes.
the mask of lies and deceit.

forbidden love
never meant to be
but already past.
