My Truths

"Any man can be a father, but it takes someone special to be a dad." — Quote by Anne Geddes.
------------------------------------------------------------------------
I liked to wear new clothes
as a kid I liked things many more
crayons, paper, a doll, a chocolate, pink shoes, ribbons, bangles
I knew not: they were to be bought by money
that money was to be earned,
that my father was poor, that he skipped meals often.
As a kid I just thought my dad was cruel
cruel, as he did not get me things I pointed
He would turn my gaze to something else
distract me with jokes and tales
His roaring laughter drowned my likes and my childish cries
But I never saw his aching heart and unshed tears
I was ten when he died
Forgive me dad, I was a foolish child.

The dove is here, let her fly

Then God said, “Let the waters abound with an abundance of living creatures, and let birds fly above the earth across the face of the firmament of the heavens.” NKJV Genesis 1:20
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------

                                     Birds flew east
                                     Birds flew west
                                    Birds flew south
                                    Birds flew north
Singing to St Francis, singing in Praise of Lord
Flying with zest, singing in love at dawn, at dusk
Cheerful in song, cheerful in all praise of Savior
                                    Birds fly again
                                  Fly east, fly west
                                 Fly north, fly south
                              Birds do fly again now
Again, do again, it is time
                             For you to preach praise
                              To sing in Lord’s name
                             Teach all to spell Peace
                             “He didn’t suffer in vain”
                             Let the world know this
                             The truth very precious
                            "Peace! Be still!"Jesus said
To calm the wind and sea
                            Let miracle happen again
                            Let there be calm hearts
                            Let there be peace again
In hearts of young and old
                          In every home around world
I believe in His miracles, I do
I believe He brings Peace, I do
Let birds that breathe and sing
Fly below heavens, rejoice in peace

Speaks Volumes

My Special Poet Poetry Contest- Tom Woody
This poem is dedicated to Speaks Volumes, PS Poet.

Quote: I know there is a place for me in this world, as I am needed. – Speaks Volumes (Wendy Horder)
-------

She is lover of family, sharp in thinking new
Perhaps a bit sharp in words, unmerciful too
Even before you think that you do know her well
All about your heart is calculated by her still
Knowing world better, her fact-finder job was swell
She is spirited, pious, lively & rhymes well

Vigor, value, family & friends she admires
Oblivious to concerns of health, she inspires
Little does she fear, stubborn doter, dog lover
Ultimate love is her quality gem, artless dear
More than anything else she adores poetry
Engrosses in shape-poetry & mystery
She loves humor, wit, wisdom, above all her country.

buried beneath

G Forms - Grook Poetry Contest - Constance La France, Theme 1. Death
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------
"All our affections are at the mercy of death, which may strike down those whom we love at any moment." Quote by _ Bertrand Russell

sitting with tears
watching a foolishly blurred vase
doodling flowers, a sun, a river, a hut,
a range of hills, hills, hills,
I fill the voids in my tender heart
created by my
kith and kin washed away
without a trace to the sea
when massive hill fell
on a sleeping village.

Vermeer’s milkmaid

scrupulous maid
     content, playful face

balanced poverty
     ultramarine touch

bread baked right
     blushing thoughts

rolled up sleeves
     neglected arms

damped window
     agreeable fate

being loved

I am
      universe

I am
      object of love, trust, faith

I am
      absolute

so I feel

as I walk into
     sparkling eyes of
          my loving pet
