The Garden

Resentment builds where grass won't grow,
Where birds don't fly and bugs don't go,
Nothing can ever be sowed,
And water rises and flows and flows.
The roots have been ripped out,
Nothing would ever dream to sprout,
Nor pansy nor tree not for the likes of thee.
Only pain and hurt darken the soil,
And cause the earth to sit and spoil.

So build a fence around the garden,
Turn the soil, let the light in.
Allow seeds and rain and love to nourish the land,
Performed by love with gentle hands.
One day you'll see a sapling grow,
With lush green leaves and dew will flow.
And the earth will be whole again,
Protected but loved.
It can... It can.
