Letter to fav poet Emily

Dear Emily,

In the quiet of Amherst, your words still bloom,
"Hope is the thing with feathers," you penned in your room.
Your verses, like the breeze, traverse time's vast sea,
Yet, dear Emily, a suggestion from me.

Your solitude crafted such delicate lines,
But what if your thoughts had danced in the pines?
Among the living, where laughter is heard,
Would your quill have captured a different word?

"Tell all the truth but tell it slant," you advised,
Yet in life's full extent, what truths might arise?
Step out, dear poet, from your reclusive shade,
And let the world's full spectrum in your ink cascade.

"I dwell in Possibility," you wrote with such grace,
But what if possibility had a different face?
Beyond the confines of your homely retreat,
Could your verses have found a more vibrant beat?

Dear Emily, your legacy, tender and grand,
Forever will echo through time's shifting sand.
Yet, I wonder, if you had fulfilled the world's hue,
What new shades of truth might have blossomed through you?

My birth month

In April’s month, the world comes alive,
With blooms bursting forth, as nature’s heart strives.
The daffodils dance in the soft springtime breeze,
While cherry blossoms whisper through blossoming trees.

The rain often falls, a gentle reminder,
That growth needs some struggle, like a flame needs a finder.
For laughter and joy, there’s Easter’s sweet cheer,
And the promise of warmth as summer draws near.
But sometimes the clouds can obscure the bright sun,
And dreams feel elusive, as the days come undone.

Yet April, dear April, you hold so much grace,
With the spirit of springtime, you brighten the space.
You remind us of balance, of light and of dark,
Of the beauty in chaos, of life’s vibrant spark.

April arrives, complexity is grand,
A month of renewal, where nature takes stand.
From Latin "aperire," it opens the door,
To blossoms and buds, a vibrant encore.

In history's weave, Veneralia shines,
Honoring Venus, where love intertwines.
With beauty and fertility, she graces the land,
As springtime awakens, with a gentle hand.

Aries ignites, the first sign in the sky,
With courage and spirit, they boldly fly high.
Natural leaders with hearts full of fire,
Embracing adventures, their passions inspire.

Yet shadows may linger, as weather can shift,
A reminder of life’s unpredictable gift.
In this dance of light, through joy and through strife,
April teaches growth, the essence of life.

In the balance of chaos, we find our own way,
In April’s sweet arms, let our spirits play.

So here’s to your essence, and the way you sway,
A month filled with promise, come what may.
With each drop of rain, a new chance to grow,
In April’s sweet arms, let our spirits overflow.

In the world of love

In the world of love, where hearts dance free,
A ghazal of longing, I shall weave for thee.
Like a gentle breeze, love brushes our souls,
Transforming us into beings whole, bold and free.

In the night's embrace, passion ignites its flame,
Whispered secrets aflame, a tale untold, we decree.
With every beat of our hearts, a song plays,
Melodies of love unfold, a serenade to believe.

In the depths of our eyes, connection intertwines,
A language of love, unspoken and yet received.
From dawn till dusk, I'll cherish this bond,
With each passing moment, deeper love achieved.

Together we soar, like two souls in flight,
Captivating the skies above, love's journey, unseized.
No barriers or boundaries can hold us back,
For in the world of love, all obstacles are appeased.

As the stars twinkle in the velvet night,
We'll dance in their glow, a love story conceived.
So, let us revel in this sacred affair,
In this ghazal of love, forever interweaved.

The Civil Rights Era 1960s

In the light of the South where the sun burns bright,
We march for freedom, we march for right.
With each step forward, we push through pain,
Dreaming of a world where love will reign.

The streets are filled with glimmer of hope,
As we gather strength to help us cope.
In the face of hatred, we stand tall,
United we rise, divided we fall.

My children ask me, "Why must we fight?"
I tell them, "For justice, for what is right."
For the dream of equality, we strive each day,
In the land of the free, we pave our way.

Though the road is long and fraught with fear,
Our voices echo, loud and clear.
From Selma to Montgomery, we march on,
In the name of freedom, until dawn.

Twas the night before Christmas

Twas the night before Christmas, all snug in my bed,
With visions of sugarplums dancing in my head.
But little did I know, a surprise was in store,
As my cat, Mr. Whiskers, knocked over the door.

He leaped on the table, where cookies were laid,
A feast for a feline, his mischief displayed.
With a swipe of his paw, the milk spilled like snow,
And I woke to a scene that was quite the show!

The tree stood all glittery, adorned with delight,
But Mr. Whiskers had turned it into a sight.
He climbed up the branches, a furry little thief,
And sent ornaments flying, oh what a relief!

As I rushed to the chaos, trying to save,
My Christmas spirit wavered, but I had to be brave.
With laughter erupting, I couldn’t stay mad,
For who could resist such a whimsical lad?

We cleaned up the mess, shared a giggle or two,
As the clock chimed midnight, my heart felt anew.
For Christmas is laughter, and memories bright,
Even when Mr. Whiskers causes a fright!

So here’s to the moments that bring us together,
The funny little stories that last through the weather.
With love and with laughter, let’s cherish the cheer,
For Christmas is magic, and that’s perfectly clear!

Manifesto

On May 11th, Hawaii did declare,
The pandemic's end, no longer a scare.
Federal word, the last state to know,
Preparing for changes in the vaccine flow.

Medicaid shifts, seniors in plight,
September 24th, the end in sight.
In early June, insurers did call,
Reassessing coverages, answers to stall.

July brought news, uncertain and grim,
Doctors from Honolulu, prospects dim.
August 13th, a reevaluation came,
Insurance updates, changes to name.

September 4th, last talks in the air,
Doctors and insurers, a tangled affair.
Neighbors noticed a front lanai void,
Paramedics broke in, stained glass destroyed.

September 30th, Hilo Hospital's care,
Unconscious, admitted, a fate to bear.
Rehabilitating now, seeking what's just,
Attorney in tow, a lawsuit a must.

In court, on the prosecutor's side,
Facing defenses, where Luigi will bide.
From issue to hope, a journey so grand,
Manus, Festus, Infestus – a fight at hand.

Feeling of Romance

In twilight's glow, where words softly weave,
Two hearts entwined beneath the silver moon,
With every glance, the world begins to leave,
As time stands still, and love’s sweet song is strewn.

The gentle brush of hands, a spark ignites,
In laughter shared, the universe aligns,
With every breath, the heart takes flight,
In tender moments, destiny entwines.

Through storms and trials, love's light will endure,
A flame that warms the coldest, darkest night,
In every challenge, we shall find a cure,
For love, my dear, makes everything feel right.

So let us dance beneath the stars above,
In every heartbeat, know this truth: we love.

Tea and the body

In a cozy corner of the world, where tranquility resides,
A hot cup of tea, a blissful magic, gently abides.
Its fragrance lingers in the air, enveloping with warmth,
Inviting calmness and serenity, where worries subside.

With graceful grace, the teapot pours its liquid gold,
Amber hues swirling, secrets of solace unfold.
A mix of flavors dance upon my eager tongue,
A delicate feel of love, emotions yet to be told.

In the delicate ceramic cup, adorned with grace,
Tea leaves embrace hot water, a joyful embrace.
Infusing the essence of nature's garden, drink deep,
A moment of respite, a journey to a tranquil space.

Sipping slowly, time takes a rest, the world slows down,
A gentle sip, a precious pause, serenity is found.
The troubles dissolve like sugar within one sip,
Basking in the comfort, a soothing comfort is crowned.

With each tender sip, the senses awaken anew,
A dance of flavors, a blend of joy in every brew.
From Earl Grey's citrusy tang to jasmine's soft allure,
A cup of tea tells tales, awakening the soul, it's true.

So, let this cup of tea be your companion dear,
A remedy for the mind, a balm for the heart's fear.
In its warmth and simplicity, find comfort and peace,
And let its magic guide you, as life's journey steers.

HIND sight 20 20

In shadows deep, where silence lay,
A moment came and stole the day.
A choice I made, with a very heavy heart,
Unraveled dreams oh it tore me apart.

I watched the light fade infront of my eyes,
As questions swirled, like quiet lies.
“Why did this happen?” travelled loud,
In a world once bright, now covered in clouds.

The pain was sharp, like a cold winter's chill,
Each breath a weight, a bitter thrill.
I wandered lost, through nights so long,
A tune that played, a haunting song.

But in that dark, a flicker began to glow,
A seed of hope, in sorrow sow......
I searched for meaning, grasped the thread,
In every tear, a path was led.

Then came the dawn, with gentle grace,
Revealing truths I had to face.
The trials shaped me, lost my soul,
In brokenness, I found my whole.

Through every storm, I tried to stand,
With purpose clear, a guiding hand.
For in the struggle strength i found,
And in the silence, wisdom's sound.

Now when the shadows creep and crawl,
I rise again, I will not fall.
Each hardship met with open heart,
For every ending is a new start.

The Wise Oak and the Young Sapling

In a forest deep where shadows play,
Stood a wise old oak, strong and gray.
His branches stretched wide, a sheltering hand,
While young saplings danced in the sunlit land.

One day a storm brewed, fierce and loud,
The young saplings trembled, lost in the crowd.
“Help us, dear oak!” they cried in despair,
“For the winds are too strong, we cannot bear!”

The oak, with a sigh, spoke soft and slow,
“Fear not, little ones, let your roots grow.
In times of trouble, hold firm to the ground,
For strength is not just in size, but in how you’re bound.”

The storm raged on, but the oak stood tall,
While the saplings learned to bend, not fall.
When the winds finally ceased, and the sun broke through,
The saplings stood stronger, with a vibrant hue.

Years passed by, and the oak grew old,
The saplings now tall, their stories are now told.
They remembered the lesson, in the storm’s fierce looking face,
That true strength lies in unity, and the roots we place.

So in the heart of the forest, where shadows play,
The wise oak and saplings thrive to this day.
For every trial faced, they learned to stand,
Together they weathered, hand in hand.
