Fool Heart

Fool Heart

The problem was never your leaving me
It lied with your still being around
Too easy for us to cross pathways
Too easy for me to hear the sound
Of your voice in my daytime
And it was even worse quarter past ten
Spending the day hoping not to see you
When the truth is I never wanted it to end
No one ever said it would be easy
Complication is a an unexpected friend
How you scooped a cup of my heart
I wish it back you would lend
It seems you also hold all the keys
To the past we shared and how we lived
With such secrets I can’t see why
It’s impossible for us to even be friends
It’s good life doesn’t come with a roadmap
Many journeys have to be perplexed
There will be sunny days & stormy nights
And relationships that will surely be vexed
I wish only for those sunny days
And the lessons I learned from the storms
To grow and prosper from our yesterday
And reform this fool heart that was tore.

Black History

I always look forward to what you say
Sometimes words in black fade to gray
No doubt as family has to find a way
We are stronger than we could have imagined
No textbook lesson is enough
To get thru life’s trials and stuff
Sometimes you have to fight and scuff
To get to day’s end
Hello, hello I rise again
I say thank you and begin, begin
A brand new journey that I’ve never seen
I stand up in it and view the scene
No one can tell me what the day may bring
Hell anything could happen and I mean anything
We don’t know the day, the hour or the circumstance
So I’m surely gonna tell my story and do my dance
While there’s still life in my body I shall have no fear
Too much purpose in my being here
I charge you today to stand my friend
Follow your journey until your destination ends
Because, we are stronger than the strongest tree
And as I look into your eyes and you look back at me
Know that even though we are different we are all family
We are historically stronger than strong
We’ve been linked together singing songs
Standing under the beat of the sun for so long
And our faith conquered all the wrong
And we are better because of it
We’ve conquered with strong character and great wit
A mind so strong, that we learned it
Even when the books were to no avail
Thru patience and perseverance in spite of the ships that did sail
And did in fact, abuse our bodies and our minds
We pushed, we sat, we gathered hand in hands in lines
To get us to where we are today
I’m thankful for those of you that paved the way

Haitian Victor

Trapped inside the darkness
Time is not on my side
I hear all the others screaming
I’m here losing every bit of my mind

Clutter all around me
A slither of light on my face
So close to get my freedom
Too close to the end of the race
Life here has not been easy
And this doesn’t seem to be fair
I’ve always prayed to the Father
From which cometh all of my help

Devastation is on the horizon
I smell the flesh rotting all around
People’s dreams shattered in a moment
Faith is fading, as I scream out loud

How could this happen?
Why did this happen to us?
Not much has ever been good here
Who shall we ever trust?

I can hear the fighting
But, there’s nothing I can do
I listen to the heartache of
People knowing there’s no choice to choose
The hardship, the hunger, the frustrations
The voices of people from different nations
Complications all around
Lives are lost by the minute
As this natural ground shaker, shook us down
Faith is the hope of all things seen
And the evidence of things unseen
I’m just calling the Lord dear God on high!
Please don’t forsake me!

I am stronger than this battle
And, as long as I see break of day
I will hold fast and not shatter
But know that the stones will have to roll away!

Metamorphis

I am the tiger in a restless land
If you cross my path
I’ll rip off your hand
Not because I’m savage
But so you’ll understand
It’s the play of nature
And also the plight of man

Living day to day
It’s easy to forget
We all come with purpose
And need to nurture it

Like a caterpillar
It turns to a butterfly
One day it is walking
But learns to fly

I am the morning
With the sun I rise
Get as clean as the new grass
Once the dirt is out of my eyes

I walk into the distance
Shining as bright as can be
Entering into the unknown
Finding new possibilities

As I learn to conquer, persevere & endure
My history I shall establish
My journey I shall secure

I stand to my last battle
Until my last breath has been drawn
To fulfill my full destiny
To sing my final song

Metamorphisis

A Love Poem

a love poem.

Defy those voices that say you can’t
Defy those images that belittle who you are
Defy those people that say black is not
Defy those people that say black is

Love your brother
Love your sister
Love yourself
Love all people

Don’t ever stop growing
Don’t ever stop seeking
Don’t ever stop loving
Don’t ever stop being

Who you are is good enough
Who you are is more than enough
Who you are traces back to Africa
Who you are Kings & Queens

Stand up for yourself King
Stand up for yourself Queen
Stand up for yourself
Stand on God’s promises

And you will achieve!

The First Family

I’m gone always be your brotha
Loving you like no other
Cause u always my sista
Whether I’m with ya or not with ya
There’s no confusing though with the truth
About how strong we are
When it’s us two
When we walk into the distance
With our crown naturally adorned
See us coming, sound the trumpets
And blow all the horns!
We are majestic
In our journey side by side
Whether we are doing the Tennessee Waltz
Or doing the electric slide
Its us doing us and we shan’t forget
The history we come from
All of the precious time spent
By our intellectual ancestors
Who paved the way.
& lit the path for Obama to command his presidency this day
It is instilled in us all
If we search inside our minds
Being president is not for everyone
But, we can all have our shine
Look at Michelle Obama, such a regal queen indeed
Sleeves or not it don’t even matter
She is not in the background of any scene
Showing us the first family
Unlike any we’ve ever seen
The daughters Sasha & Malia so intelligent & pristine
Taking residence in the White House
Built by the sweat of our brow
I know our ancestors would be proud
And thinking what’s next on our agenda now!

This Morning's Sunrise

I saw you in this mornings sunrise

I tried to get close to you, but your light was blinding

You bear the resemblance of a day that I most remember

Shining bright over all in sight~ the month September

I can even smell your dew you left as a treat

How I wish to lay in it and allow it to cleanse me

Cleanse me of the memory, but make me one with you again

As if there has been no time in between

Just the frolic of love in the air

But it is obvious you dont see me looking

Or maybe you do and refuse to shine my way

Regardless, I saw you in this mornings sunrise

I will again step into it and approach my day.

Good Intentions

the road was paved with good intentions
but the bricks laid are cobblestone
so many has traveled the road on journey
and find the destination cold
standing strong in its foundation
we pray that it does not dismay
we find ourselves feeling helpless
and do not know if we will make break of day
on this road we will continue
tarry not we will indeed
for there are others on this journey
but mine begins and ends with me
so I will travel with you fellows
and judge not I will indeed
but go with you on this trodden quest
and not lose sight of what makes me
me!
