Haitian Victor
Trapped inside the darkness
Time is not on my side
I hear all the others screaming
I’m here losing every bit of my mind
Clutter all around me
A slither of light on my face
So close to get my freedom
Too close to the end of the race
Life here has not been easy
And this doesn’t seem to be fair
I’ve always prayed to the Father
From which cometh all of my help
Devastation is on the horizon
I smell the flesh rotting all around
People’s dreams shattered in a moment
Faith is fading, as I scream out loud
How could this happen?
Why did this happen to us?
Not much has ever been good here
Who shall we ever trust?
I can hear the fighting
But, there’s nothing I can do
I listen to the heartache of
People knowing there’s no choice to choose
The hardship, the hunger, the frustrations
The voices of people from different nations
Complications all around
Lives are lost by the minute
As this natural ground shaker, shook us down
Faith is the hope of all things seen
And the evidence of things unseen
I’m just calling the Lord dear God on high!
Please don’t forsake me!
I am stronger than this battle
And, as long as I see break of day
I will hold fast and not shatter
But know that the stones will have to roll away!
