Luna

A collage of warm leaves
Branches tangled against the fierce horizon
The pulse of paws hitting the ground
The soft melody of her collar
Bitter autumn air
Biting at our fingertips
A rebirth of exhilaration

Sunshine of Silk

She stalked me like a sunny cloud
Sunshine of silk
Bleeding color into my life
My heart has reached out, untwisted
Monarchs fluttering in my stomach, bejeweled saviors
Rivulets of dancing sunlight
On my skin

Midnight River

Snow gracefully falling and
Collecting on branches
River of midnight blue
Snowflakes drifting on the currents
Like stars in a night sky
The crisp smell of melting snow on
A clear morning
The layers of a blank paper
Caving under the weight
Of my feet

A Love Poem

Every word you say
Is a work of art
And all the tales I could spin
From every syllable
That stumbles from your lips
It would be a masterpiece
We could be a masterpiece
We could be a tapestry
Weaving in and out with indigos and blushing roses
Falling over
With the grace and beauty
Of a waterfall

The Monster

My heart ached dull and wallowing
Like an itch that won’t go away
I feel hollow and carved out
Like a piece of me is missing

My spindly fingers
And my gaunt and desperate eyes
Search through the dark
Like a starving creature

I swallow your praises
Guzzle your compliments
Feed the monster
And look for more

I’ll never be content
It will only last for a second
And disappear in the wind
Like an autumn leaf whisked away
When the snow falls

Best

I know I shouldn’t need it
Or want it
But I can’t breathe clean air without it
I need you to tell me that I’m okay
Tell me I’m right
That I’m good at something
Besides being the wax that melts
Under the candle’s bold flame
I want to be the best at something
But I’m the chorus before the bridge
The moment before the last breath

Dear Society

Stay happy
Be happy
That’s what I want
That’s what everyone wants
But I don’t know If I deserve that
If I ever deserved that
If I ever will deserve that
We’re born with an understanding that
We’re not enough
We have to earn enough
We have to fight for it
We have to fight for life
What if I get tired of constantly fighting
Of earning enough
Of not inherently being enough
Of inheriting the deep knowing that we are not enough
Of climbing and sprinting and facing the waves with their jagged and twisted faces
Of screaming into my pillow and still not feeling loud enough
Of feeling muffled, muted, quieted
And I keep counting my footsteps
Scared that I’ll manage to walk off a cliff
Counting and cowering and crying
And I just want to scream
Ugly and wretched
I want you to hear everything ugly and
Wretched and disgusting
That has been trapped
That needs to be heard
I wish you weren’t scared of the unknown
Scared of what you have created
Scared of what you have done to us
What you have done to me

China

Her
Porcelain skin
She dances like crystal raindrops
Falling from the sky

I
Tangled hair
I cry like the howling winds
Over the dry plains

She is like a delicate china set
Meticulously stacked
She will never fall over

I am like the hard and cold cement
On the avenue
I am unnoticed, masked under the rough surface

Shattered

Forget don't forgive
Cut by my hopes, they shattered
Drowned in my footsteps

A Sigh Into Snow

The snow makes the night lighter
Manipulates the dark
Into a bedtime story
The inky sky becomes
A hazy wonder
And you knew it would
Be one of those nights
The kind you don't forget
The snow a pillow beneath your soft feet
The exhale of your lonesome breath
Curling in the white bliss
Bury your past in each stride
The night gleaming
Not the warm sharp ended glow of a candle
But silver iridescence
You feel the teeth of the wind
Biting at your fingertips
But you couldn't care less
The dust had collected on your free life
for years
That calamity that hunted your face
Filled with mascara tears
Now silky
Like the moon in the sky
