The Darkness It Flies

The darkness, it flies
As it swallows your eyes
My ships, they capsize
Break that delicate pool surface
As I fall and baptize
Your waters, they shake
They tremble and wait
Like clockwork, they give a life
Right as they take
I’m glowing, alone
Surrounded by snow
And nobody knows
About the fire flies that burn inside
My mind and my toes
A fire of blues, of scarlet wind hues
Like feathers they drag
Across galaxies of skin
They embody the burn
That we ache for, a sin

Three Haiku For Cancer Battle

Miracles are clouds
Far away, untouchable
Yet we’re flying through

The face of Divine
Hides quietly inside this
Haze of fear and doubt

So my hope remains
Throughout the breaks of sadness
That you’ll see your light

The Power In Perspective

at your own burial
maybe there will be tears
but maybe what is living in those tears
are galaxies of stars
moons and space and the always present
truth
that we can never grasp
what is so eternally bigger than ourselves
that it breaks our hearts to love
and that time is created
yet somehow exists, entirely on it's own
we will cry at the small shape of our lives
that we could only mold if we realized that it was putty
we are infinitely big
and we are infinitely small
we must look from one
with hopes for the other

Puppet Dance

There is a moment
When everything aligns
The chaos connects
And dots fill with lines
The hungry gets happy before it gets full
The storm magnifies
Before it falls to a lull
Imagine you are floating
Alone and unknown
When a dragonfly who wants to dry lands on your toe
Look into its eyes
As it stares into yours
In a sweet moment you are one
And then away it goes
It’s all part of the flow
We’re here then we’re gone
We reach then we retreat
I don’t know what I want when the world tastes so sweet
There’s a careless perfection
In the inner workings of creation, destruction
There’s a sturdy balance lifts us, drops us
Yet we always remain in the air
Sometimes we seem to be held up by strings
A careful dance of the marionettes
We sway with the thought
That our clever movements are so creative
So innovative
How easy it is to ignore
When you are the puppet
How easy it is to overlook
When you are the puppeteer

When I Realize I'M Sleeping

I’m soaring through all of the things I’ve seen
Dancing with the ways things could have been
I don’t need eyes to vision my dreams
To drift in your world
And swing as I sleep
The careless slumbers of something sweet
There’s evidence here that I’m nothing pure
Yet somehow I lie in the dirt and glimmer
The sun shines through
Sky streaks through the mud
I can feel you are close
I am aware of your love
It pounds in me and it’s eating you
A whisper of life
A taste so raw
I can feel it in my bones
In my words and my thoughts
How ironic
That a fear of death is what kills me
And brings me to life
Opens my eyes and widens my skies
Eternal space
Nothing yet full
I watch my breath, imagine the clouds I exude
When what I see becomes a part of me
The stars will be knots in my bloodstream
My lungs full of water, the sway of the sea
It’s rocking me
And it’s scaring you
You see in me what I’ll never wish to see in you
Everywhere I’ve been is everything I am
I look under rocks, I check under the bed
Where is the divine, is it all in my head?
I question reality in all of its forms
I’m dreaming a dream within a dream where I’m dreaming that I’m dreaming
I am awake and alive when I realize I’m sleeping

Open Bright Eyes

Vast nothingness
Open pages
Connected stars
Bright eyes

A tingling touch
A riveting feeling
Manifest my destiny

Close my eyes
Feel my soul
Feed my spirit

Open your lips, your hands, your heart
And create beauty

The clouds
They move slowly above your head
But don't miss their movement

(This poem was written in about 2 minutes. I sat down and wrote the first words that
popped into my head.)

Can We Only Fly In Dreams

Watch with wonder

IT is encompassing you all of the time

Acknowledge your passion
And bask in its beauty

Free the child inside
And watch for butterflies at your feet

Grip the grass between your toes
While knowing that the earth won't let you go

Twirl round and round
We are water, we are fluid

Bring the stars back
To the cloudy night above

Can we only fly in dreams?

Something In Our Sway

There was something in our sway. Of hips and lips, of thoughts and things.
Oh, there was something in that movement. That fluid, blessed movement of alignment and
fluidity, of morning slumber and night time’s caress.
The kind of caress that stimulates and undulates.
It brings the dead to awake.
Nothing ever talked back when I spoke to the sky. Everything was empty, yet full and slow,
alive.
I always had this feeling- this waiting, dripping song. It leaked into my soul and sat
there with a grin. Everything amused it, it sang of snow and sand. It sang of eyelashes
and the paper-thin touch of skin.
I never listened when it sang to me, I knew no one else could hear. But when I stepped
into your light and widened my eyes and blew open my heart, the song it sat in silence.
It listened.
Defeated yet inspired, it traveled through my mouth.
It parted my lips and left, it’s course led straight to yours.
Just like the sky, I felt empty, yet full and slow, alive. I sat there with a grin. My
soul had found it’s friend.
Now all I can do is give that song, receive that song and keep it free, that song.

I’ll let us flow if you let me grow and I’ll let you see the nakedness in me, we’ll be
what we are and we’ll see what we see, we’ll do what we want because life makes us free.

And it breaks our hearts.

So live and breathe and die and see, but do it as you tangle with me. When I wonder where
these feelings source, I can only say: there was something in our sway.

Let My Heart Be the Sea

let my heart be the sea
the dark waves inked and glowing by moonlight
my mind takes the shape of a ship
shadowed and dusty yet dusted with hope
I am the captain of this vessel
crawling on the water like a big wooden junebug
I let the ocean sway me
I get turned around all wrong when staring into the sun
I hold myself
I pray to that which I hope is more than myself
It gets a little lonely on deck
my sad little ship without a crew
It is always nighttime on this sea
but I am oddly comforted by the stars
the constant sway-rock from the water
I hear the lapping of the waves on the side of the boat
and silence
yet I can always hear the music I am creating in my mind
quitely stemming from the sea
it plays for me what I want it to hear

Moon Mother

Something alive is in the moon
I'll live forever
Bathing in its glow

Lifting so slowly
To an enlightened state of being

One day my mind will quiet
To a petal-soft whisper

The galaxy runs through my blood
The heavens are in my eyes

...yet I dream of your kiss

Until then,
The warmth that fills the skies
I'll breathe into my body
