One Rock...

One rock drops.
Many ripples
spread across the river.

Standing Out

To be unusual,
have people stare,
and not blend in…

I hope that I stand out
because there is a light
that won’t quit shining;
brightness that comes from a belief so strong,
a faith firm like a rock,
and a father so strong and just.

Choices

I wanted to win
But I lost
I wanted to stand
But I sat
What held me back?
Fear

War Within

What is life all about?
I hear many different answers
shouting at me.
Drowning in a
sea of confusion,
I try shouting back but my
voice is lost.
I breathe as if I’m
a vacuum.
Sucking all the screams up
as if they are dirt
Silence….
I speak.
“Jesus” is all I say.
My voice is finally heard.

Question Mark

I think I am like this question mark
not knowing which way to go;
what is my spark?
Life can be confusing, tumbling,
and circling in my mind
never knowing what to find.
So when I see this question mark,
I see me.

Feeling Pain

The pain I feel
A bad storm,
Reeking havoc on my life
Taking control
I cover myself
Trying to find shelter
There’s no way out
Facing the storm
I fight through
With less pain
The storm calms
I finally see the sun

Lesson To Learn

I am the child…
Reading is hard.
I try to fit in,
scarred to say the wrong words,
hoping no one laughs,
not wanting to speak,
or have all eyes on me.
Just wishing for a chance to shine.

I am the teacher…
finding joy in student’s success
disappointment when they fail
wanting to help them rise
giving them their chance to shine.

Unveiled

That girl has had it rough.
The glow fading from her face like a dimming light.
Going through treatments, she’s been tough,
each day putting on her gloves to fight.

A diamond in the rough…

A boy that takes a stand,
letting the silent voices sing.
Giving those stuck in sand
a chance to find their wings.

A diamond in the rough…

Through trying times there you are.
You don’t buckle or run to hide.
In difficult situations, you are not far.
Wanting to win, a victory by your side.

A true diamond in the rough.

Emotions

Can I tell you all that is real
about the emotions that I feel?
I feel happiness like the sun,
joy so bright and fun,
anger like the storm,
nervousness that wrecks the natural form,
excitement like that bouncing ball,
sadness without light
like the darkest night.
Ups and downs come into life
with emotions like a knife.
Many times you wonder why.
I have to sit and sigh.
Now I told you what I feel.
I hope you know what is real.

Fitting In

I enter the hall
wondering where to sit.
People stare.
I spot an open seat
and immediately drop into it.
Relief flows through me.
I’m a part of the crowd.
