Lesson To Learn

I am the child…
Reading is hard.
I try to fit in,
scarred to say the wrong words,
hoping no one laughs,
not wanting to speak,
or have all eyes on me.
Just wishing for a chance to shine.

I am the teacher…
finding joy in student’s success
disappointment when they fail
wanting to help them rise
giving them their chance to shine.

Hope we'll be seeing some new poetry from you over the summer. Creativity is a gift. You might enjoy my poem--"Pant"--if you want to stop in and read it. Love, Mom.

This is so true. As a child, we have fear but as a teacher we have expectations. I like the two different point of views, it adds to the greatness of the piece.

Shannon, you can enter one poem in the Poetry Soup contest that closes October 4th. Thought you might not know. I like how the two halves of this poem come together to convey your message. You definitely have two voices here. Nice job! Mom

wonderful! A very realistic poem! Rightly describes the feelings a small kid and a school teacher!
