New Life

Thump. Thump. Thump. A glance at the heartbeat reveals,
Life exhaled a sigh of relief and assured certainty.
Imagine the pitter-patter of little feet as the sonogram goes bleep, bleep.
As fresh as linen hung in the morning sun, clean powdery scents fill the air.
Names are whispered in the wind: Kendall, Charlotte, Lucas, and Jacob.

Summer, autumn, winter, dawn to dusk
From sticky, hot summer days to the snug, swaddled, sleepless nights of a newborn,
Dozily feeding, gently rocking, and singing a lullaby,
You are my sunshine, my only sunshine,
My baby, I love you to the moon and back.

A seedling sprouts. The promise of a delicate rose, a luscious berry, or a majestic evergreen,
As the year slips away, the sand slides down the hourglass,
with babbling brooks and comfort from a mocking jay,
At dawn, silence confounds us all,
And the sweet smile fades away, into a misty haze.

Friendly playdates pass away as a diagnosis is given, and every type of therapy is prescribed,
My heart aches but I am grateful they are there,
Lord, I cry out, I will do anything! I love my son!
Summer, autumn, winter, dawn to dusk,
Tireless summer days to cuddly, smiling Christmas nights.

H. Ha. Happy! The exhilaration of my heartbeat!
Life exhaled a sigh of relief and assured certainty.
Praising my Father for a miracle,
His love and hand over your life. He knows you by name. Every hair counted.
You are worth more than sparrows.

His Tranquility

Have you ever rolled the window down to feel the softness of the air?
Soothing, tender, a sweet embrace.
Have you ever seen water so blue?
Tranquility encompasses you.
He moved the mountain,
Yes, Lord, I know it was you!
Majestic trees and the Pacific Sea breeze,
Air I can finally breathe.
Give me the Bible so I can explore your expanse, it enraptures me!
A friend who led me to a man who loves like you do,
I tried to run and hide but he stayed by my side...just like you do!
Hold me still. Hold me still.
Teach me to love like you, lend me your eyes and worldview.
He does. He does.
Empathize with humanity and enjoy them while you can,
After all, what is life but loving man?
Fill your heart, oh sweet tranquility.
Love warms like a worm in an apple,
From the inside out, hello felicity!

2020

2020, Foretold to be a treasure chest of human desire,
New hopes and dreams await in this decade filled with glittery graduation parties, newlywed bliss, promenade rendezvous, and snap-worthy playdates,
Bustling careers and holidays full of cheer.

Firm or friendly handshakes, tight or tender embraces,
Soulful voices lifting melodic hymns from the pews,
Cheering our children at Friday night games,
Celebrating together anything worthy of praise.

January 21st, an announcement was made,
Without preparation, the world was unmade,
A world teetering on life and death,
You were swayed by social media, as many lay alone, as they breathed their last breaths.

Is it a pandemic? Syndemic?
Should you wear facemasks or not?
How do you define love?
The Forget-Me-Not.

The views from a luxury home,
Or the warmth of a cozy nest that is dirty from playful toes,
Vacations from your stimulus,
Or friendships that develop from interpersonal relationships.

Put down your selfish and anxious way of thinking,
Love freely with an open embrace,
You can hear the birds chirping,
You can kiss your sweetheart and give God thanks for the gift of life.

Today has come,
Tomorrow can never be guaranteed,
So, love now with all you have,
Express yourself in other ways besides chat.

It is better to listen,
Than to speak,
Try to turn the other cheek,
LOVE NEVER FAILS.

Sunburn

Take me out of this desert land,
Carry my body over the sand.

My wounds are exposed, and my heart is ablaze,
I need to be healed, please tell me there is a magic phrase.

Take me out of this desert land,
Carry my body over the sand.

The sun is like fire scorching the Earth.

The Beauty of a Divergent Path

The beauty of a divergent path,
Praising Him for His healing,
Seeing and believing,
With the passage of time, to forgive and understand,
Divine grace and mercy,
Faithful and seeking wisdom,
Efficacious prayer,
Maybe time will change, and the godless ways will fade; fade, fade, and our nation will be reborn.
